Johnmeyer, thanks for the heads-up RE: MotionPerfect. I'll download the trial version when I get home and give it a try. It'll be interesting to see what the differences are between the raw footage, and footage corrected with MotionPerfect and enhanced in Vegas (I find I have to boost contrast and color saturation at the very least.)

Obviously this sort of thing wouldn't do for quality work but it's a fun experiment, like using a disposable film camera. Sometimes the limitations of the equipment force interesting creative solutions.

I have nothing that would be of interest to contribute to this topic - no Paris Hilton or Playboy bunny shoots - but it made for a nice break in between editing my rather mundane (by comparison) videos,

Soooo, I think this might be a good topic to post EVERY WEEKEND in order to see what the Vegas family is up to what do you think?

Someday I will have some exciting adventures in video to contribute!

just did a voiceover for Denver broadcast station where they're expecting 10"+ of snow! It was easy to read with 80 degrees and sunshine here in Tampa. (hope no hard feelings to anyone in the north!)

Finishing taxes as above...what joy.

Getting my bags ready for NAB next weekend.

I am working on a three hour jazz presentation I filmed in January. 4 junior highs and three high school jazz bands. Going well but I needed a break.

I'm trying to piece together a documentary at this time. I'm shooting footage on location as well. It will center on a schol bus crash that happened back in the 80's very near where I live. Many kids drowned as the bus crashed and fell into a caliche pit. very horrible, ver sad. Just saw the crosses on a fence...all very somber.

Not too exciting but I've been working on the encoding and authoring of 4 DVDs of a Nutrition seminar and trying to persuade DVD-Lab to accept that Vegas' chapter markers are in drop-frame format.

This morning I upgraded to DVD-Lab Pro which handled the chapter marker problem only to find that it won't compile the same footage that DVD-Lab Standard compiles perfectly.

I'd love to be able to use DVD Architect because it handles chapter markers very elegantly but unfortunately it produces DVDs that won't navigate correctly on Pioneer DVD players (it's fine on other brands).

Tony, I have a Pioneer DVD player, among others, and the DVDs navigate on it just fine. Are you certain it's a player problem?

Talk about an amazing cross section of the world.....
Editing for church
Editing for Playboy/Penthouse
Editing a dance/shooting dance
Shooting music video
Painting naked bodies
Editing music video
Shooting for experiments

"Wide cross section" doesn't begin to cover it....:-)

Hi Jay,

I can play DVDs authored in DVD Architect fine on Sony's, Magnavox and JVC's but on my main testing system (which plays everything else) - a Pioneer - and another house system, another Pioneer, the link to the submenu pages doesn't work. So I assumed that it was Pioneer-specific, but I guess it's not if it works on yours.

Well it's Sunday night and it looks like I did manage to do a bit of shooting. Helped a couple buddies of mine with their proposal video for a sit com. Lot's of fun. We worked out a deal where I help my friend and they lend me their Xl-1 to use on my next couple shoots.

What a great camera...can't wait to see what the girls look like with that....April 19th is the scheduled shoot. Here's hoping all goes as planned.

Hope everyone has a good week.

What a great thread!

This is a bit late, but I was a away from my computer directing my 1st tv commercial. It was a blast! I actually had a crew (DP, AC, AD, gaffers, grips, etc,), equipment (big reflectors, big lights powered by a gen. truck, effect lights, grip truck) talent, and extras (over 40). Sat. was a 12 hr day and Sun. was a 6 hr day. We still have 2 more scenes to shoot on thur,. I am trully amazed by how great it is to work with a group of qualified pros and how wonderful the results can be. Now I am spoiled.

A local car dealer decided to have my "film*" class pitch Scion car commercial ideas. They wanted ideas for 3 different spots, highlighting their different cars. 3 rounds of additional pitching, coupled w/ the elimination of ideas they didn't feel fit their brand, and now 2 of my classmates and I are doing commercials!

Directing a car commercial in Hawaii... hmmmmmm

sounds like a really boring weekend ;)

Congrats, Kula. It really is nice when you've got the means (crew) to do the job right. Look forward to seeing your work someday.

Thanks, hopefully I can post it when it is done. If it looks near as good as it did in the monitor, it should look really good.

Put new batteries in my atomic clock that sync's up on the 60khz low freq. signal. $1.98. Epson 1520 ran out of color ink. $34.95. Ate up all the Dove bars and peaches. Also one Genesee Cream Ale and a bunch of smokies and one fillet mignon. Couple bags of potato chips. Nothin much goin on.
