I had to use Uninstaller Pro to remove Nero from my drive, and even that I had to go in manually. This program is almost as worse as a virus.

Funny thread.

I once emailed Nero and advised them about the bloat that was creeping into the package and how most of the people I know who once loved the Burning ROM app had simply stopped using it due to all the other junk utilities and crappy install process.

They wrote back saying all their customers were asking for these features so they wouldn't be removing them. I have no idea who all those so called customers are.

On a similar note I did the same thing with Real player when they started making the installation convoluted and intrusive to any other player. They had a similar response and look how far they've fallen. It's hard to find Real media anywhere on the web now days.

I know numerous people that watch movies, edit, encode, author DVD's, etc. from within NERO.
They are NOT video people so they are using what they have and are used to.

I simply use NERO for copying discs or burning Data Discs but, if I wasn't an editor with access to all the cool tools... I too would use a similar 'Do it all' app.

IMG Burn will NOT burn to Multiple Discs simultaneously.

Why anyone would purchase that consumer piece of crap is beyond me. Nero hasn't been stable for 6 years.

The best ripping software on the planet is EAC (and it's free). The best cd/dvd burning software on the planet is Imgburn (and it's free). There are tons of free players like VLC (and it's free).

Tell me something that you need Nero for, and I'll find you a better FREE solution. One that doesn't RUIN your computer.

I use it and it's far from the best. Unless I've missed something I cannot build folders on the target disks like I could with Nero. Instead I have to build an image on a HDD and then burn that.

I have used Nero 8 for about a year and haven't had any problems that I can attribute to it. I use it mainly to burn video DVDs from image files, data DVDs, and to transcode files.

I like Nero Showtime because it gives me precise info about the video properties.

I think many people who have problems with this type of software don't pay enough attention during the installation ... particularly file associations. Lots of video software ... QT, Real Media ... will take over all possible associations, and then that software, quite literally, is in your workflow for just about any video-related task.

I don't have 8 but 7 rather and I will agree the Showtime is quite good. The upgrade to 8 is relatively cheap and I may just swing for it. It's Nero 9 that I have heard people not to bother with.

BTW Bob (Hurst)... are you finally trashing Pinnacle and moving onto something real?

Not trashing anything. Just trying new things.

Well... you get good enough with Vegas and you'll soon find Pinnacle falling by the way side. I had Avid Liquid as well as studio.... haven't touched either one of them in a couple of years now.
