Swampler, if not, send it to me and we'll run it through our chamber. We can do salt spray too. And if that's not good enough, i'll kick it around the concrete floor for you too.

Swampler,
The test sounds like a good idea, but which label are you going to test?
If the test fails it will only be reflective of that particular label. Now if it is an Avery permanent label and it fails, I'd be REALLY interested in the results.

I only have the Neato full coverage labels currently, so I guess it would be that. I'm not even sure I'd be able to use the equipment at this point though, depends on how busy QA is with new product testing.

Im lost somewhere. Boxes....TAPE....Razors......State of the Art Water Chambers?

Wow, i guess than use labels. No wait use a printer. Or use both and if the label falls off youll always have the image printed on the disk to stare at.

Im out of suggestions.

I just ordered 100 DVD-R's for only $1 a piece, they are only 1X, but since I have lots of duplicators it doesn't really matter, and I find that burning at higher rates like 2X or 4X has more room for error so I usually burn at 1X anyways. Inkjet CD's, they can be found in tons of places for 30-40 cents a disc, you'll probably have to order more than 50 of them, but if you need around 500 or so you can easily get that kind of price on them.

I can't believe how many posts have accumulated in just a few days on this subject. All interesting though! :)

As an aside - I had a label from a rental shop peel off which DID completely screw up the works and require my taking the machine into a video shop for repair. And that was a VHS deck - not a DVD deck! (With rental DVDs I couldnt believe it when I saw a rectangular label with the store name stuck on the media! I pulled it off before playing it.)

I was looking at a recent ad for DVD media and noticed that the DVD was fairly attractive as it was. So I thought - why print anything at all on the DVD? Why not just make a printed insert for the jewel case? I have bought some CD-R media intended to be used this way - each disc with different interesting designs and no manufacturer's logo in sight.

If they are using Eastman 910 (film splicing) or Dupont 901 (aircraft fibreglass wing parts) on the labels then I would believe they would never come off. If the glue eats
into the top plastic layer that would seem to be not good as the data is just below same.
I spent the money for the Epson printer and I sleep good.
