hi bob - i do realise that the camera in question is a pretty serious one, that doesn't mean it's codec 'couldn't' be problematic in some circumstances (as is the case).

Thanks John - I actually downloades this as a trial, but it does not seem to convert MXF -> MXF, and I would like that, and therefore I think I'll stick to render out from Vegas itself to MXF, and hope for the smartrender to be faster in a future update of VP 11.

Sure a codec or an unusual implementations of it, can cause problems but that's not the case here. I'm fairly confident that Canon are using Sony developed and supplied encoder chips, the same as used in the NanoFlash.
