Most annoying sound? For me it's the little "tik" sound in MSIE. I'm constantly replacing that .wav file with an empty, muted .wav version instead. But even if i lock it, every time Windows does an update it replaces it with a fresh copy of the "tik" sound again.
Fortunately i almost never use MSIE, so i'm not bothered by it much. It just astounds me that Microsoft thinks it's so important that they won't don't give the user an option to disable or change it, and if i hack it, they put it back.
To demonstrate my premise, just replace your silent wav sound with my sound. I can pretty much guarantee you will stop surfing within hours, maybe minutes.

Paul, thanks for the heads-up on non-bloat Nero. I had no idea such a thing exists. Definitely on my radar now for multi-burners if my disc sales pick up.
