OT: Prayers Desperately needed

p@mast3rs wrote on 6/6/2006, 9:42 AM
Guys, I hate to use this forum to post something this off topic but I am calling out to fellow Vegas users for prayers. 2 weeks ago, my mom had a heart attack and didnt tell anyone and ended up having congential heart failure and had a triple by-pass surgery. I visited her over the weekend and they moved her from ICU to a regular room but unfortunately she has been moved back there after her heart had stopped. Luckily the doctor and nurse were right outside her room when her heart had stopped otherwise she would no longer be with us.

She has been placed back on a respirator because she still has a lot of fluid in her lungs and the rest of her organs are not getting enough oxygen. I think the plan currently is that they are going to place a difibulator in her heart once the fluid levels go down enough.

I beg of the members to please take a moment and say a prayer for my mom and that she makes it through ok. I never in a million years thought I would ever have to deal with something like this let along losing her. It was so saddening to watch her lay helpless in the hospital bed clinging to life when the woman I knew was nothing more than "super woman" to me. So please, I ask that the power of prayer help my mom.

Also, please take the time to watch what you eat and if you smoke, please stop but God knows I dont want to lose anyone on the forums either.

Patrick

I'm doing a prayer for her, too.

If she gets out and has another heart stoppage later with no doctors in sight, immediately pinch the center of her upper lip as hard as you possibly can, index finger from the inside and thumb on the outside.

This sends a strong nerve signal to the heart to start beating again.

Many nurses know this, but it doesn't seem to be universally taught elsewhere.

That's a pretty grim scenario. Good luck to you and Godspeed to her.

Patrick,

Sorry to hear about your mom.

Just said a prayer for her with my 6 year old son and we will get all the kids in on it. (I have 7 by the way)

Take care,

Patrick,
our thoughts are with your Mum and with you, seems to me you've had more than your share of obstacles placed on life's highway lately.

Patrick,

I can identify with your situation as I lost my father three weeks ago. Tonight is "Bible study" and "prayer meeting" at church. I will add your request to the prayer list and our church will lift both you and your mother in prayer this evening.

Many thanks to all of you for your prayers. I found out today that my mom had her difbulator put in and seems to be responding well. I am going to take this time to travel back up to see her this weekend. Shes still not out of the woods but at least she is doing better now than when I first posted.

So if you all dont mind, please continue to keep her in your prayers until she fully recovers. I would sincerely appreciate it.

Good News Patrick!

The defib's are wonderful. My neighbor had to have one put in at about age 50 after she was found with almost no pulse, no respiration. Ten years later, she still tires easily, but has a good quality of life.

Will keep your mom in prayers.
