I'm sure you can find the patcholli oil here in Santa Cruz, but do keep in mind that you are not allowed to wear any type of 'perfume' whilst in a govt building...oh dear, someone might get upset.
You also can't smoke outside in the downtown area, apparently there isn't enough air....for everyone.
Incense might be exempt however...maybe not enough complaints yet !

And speaking of lingering smells, my now ex-brother-in-law used to bathe in after shave and if he hugged me I stunk of men's aftershave all day long, which I did not appreciate. But he's gone...and so is that smell~

But he's gone...and so is that smell~Wow, that would make a great catch line for a country western song. Send it to Taylor Swift: she's always singing about horrible ex-boyfriends.

Thinking this was a project editing question my mind was filled with thoughts of 'smell-o-vision', which got me to wondering, will there be filters and effects for aroma too? Obviously there will be intensity envelopes. But, what would be the equivalent in smell of things like EQ, reverb, white balance, masking & cropping, pan, PiP, color correction, wipes, noise reduction, etc.?

I actually went to a Smell-O-Vision movie back in the early 1960s. It was tough to walk into the theater because it contained lingering odors from all the scents released during the previous screening. That weird smell was combined with the usual movie theater popcorn smell, and the result was not all that pleasant.

The movie itself was some sort of travelogue, and you got to smell things shown on the screen. Oddly, the one scent that I always remember, mostly because it was the one smell that was actually almost perfect, was shoe polish. As the camera rolled by the shoe shine stand (remember them?) you could smell the polish.

I just polished my dress shoes for the first time in a decade and the old polish can still smells like it did back then.

Gee, I am getting old ....

Recently, my daughter passed through the room where I was polishing my shoes and remarked, "Dad, you must be the only person who still spit-shines his shoes." I admitted that I likely was.

At least johnmeyer does it every 10 years...
