Anyone just use Notepad? I have six sites so far, all coded with Notepad (external CSS). http://www.arrfdesigns.com

1. What program you use to create it: Notepad
1a. Update it: Notepad and WS_FTP
1b. Maintain it: Same as 1a
2. Method of displaying DEMO Vids: YouTube

Scroll down on my video page and you'll see the $10k winning video made with Sony Vegas (version 7 at the time)

Very nice video indeed, Dragon!! :-D

Not to Hijack the thread here, but can I ask you Dragon, how long did it take to make the video and what language is it in?

Unfortunately you caught me at the wrong time with a complete scrap and redo in progress. But... http://www.pixelstuff.com running on the MODx CMS

1. Dreamweaver and MODx
1a. MODx
1b. MODx, Dreamweaver, Photoshop, Vegas, Flash
2. Flash video

To add links and other things to a post take a look at this page which is also a sticky topic at the top of each forum.

I run and design my small site. Most media files are in state of flux and in secure directory only available by invite. I'm behind the times (haven't incorporated Flash in web design, etc.).

That said, IMO, too much Flash wiring in a site design isn't good web-authoring etiquette either: Fancy isn't always better.

--- I use Frontpage 2003, PhotoPaint 12 (know PhotoShop but can't afford it), Adobe Illustrator on rare occasions, On2 Flix Standard for Flash, VP8, .wmv and .flv/.swf, and other misc. apps when needed, (i.e. Fraps).

--- Music production is done with Steinberg Cubase SX3 (99.9% of my vid stuff incorporates my own compositions).

THANKS! I took me about a month messing around with all the effects (before I settled on the ones I used). He's a basic "how to":

Here ya go:
We re-designed our site about 2 years back and decided to make it SUPER SIMPLE! Only three basic pages. We figure most of our business comes from referrals, so we just need a basic presence without too much detail to get lost in. We just want folks to look, get excited, and then call us and ask questions...

http://www.reddogrecords.com

1) programmed using Photoshop / Imageready / Dreamweaver / Flash, and MS Expression Web

2) Update and Maintain it using the same (depending on what we are changing)

3) We have tried lots of different options for displaying video. Currently, we have a YouTube channel and point to some of those videos, plus we typically will post them in FLASH on our site. We just have to trim down the number of selections to keep the load times in check.

I don't have a website of my own really, but I built and maintain this one for a local choir.

I use SiteSpinner to edit the master on my PC, then uplink to the server with FTPVoyager.

Haven't done much with the website for a couple of years now, I should go through and add a bunch more videos and increase the bitrate of the existing ones. Here's an example of a page with a small video on it (Flash at about 300Kb/sec). Here's another one with both video and stills.

SiteSpinner is a very elegant tool that is truly WYSIWYG. Code is to standard, too, and renders fine in both IE and Firefox.

A colleague just showed me a site that he's working on that he said is done completely w/ Photoshop & . I enjoyed seeing and hearing this because I can get the exact look I want in Photoshop but then I run into problems with taking it from Photoshop and adding code. (I'm a total Video & Flash guy with very little knowledge of code - this is why I went WYSIWYG)

Apparently SiteGrinder works like Adobe Encore in that you add 'hints' in Photoshop. ie - name the layers correctly and when you export from Photoshop they appear as they should... with code and all! They have a Demo/Trial on their site... but I'm yet to try it.

I've been killing myself trying to learn Dreamweaver but I can't get used to not being able to simply place things where I want them to be. Layers vs Tables etc... and being able to put things on top of other things. I think I'm just a WYSIWYG guy.

- I was told that I like Code Generators
- apparently Dreamweaver & the like are Code Editors

-- I've been looking at and analyzing every site posted in this thread. Hopefully my site & postings have been as entertaining and educational as I'm finding all of yours to be.

I am almost finished with new portion of my site; just need to do some minor cleanup and get a form working. I said above it would be done in a few months. Well, I got some time and went to work on it sooner than later. The new portion was made using Dreamweaver and Fireworks CS3.

Sync2rhythm:

SiteSpinner is about as wysiwyg as it gets. Works just like Powerpoint--create a graphic, move it over there; create a text box, move it there, etc.

In order to offer this utter simplicity in layout, SiteSpinner is not quite as code compact as one could do in Notepad, but in an era of broadband everywhere and video-rich sites, it's not an issue any more, in my view.

1. Notepad, Mozilla and Coffee Cup

1a./ 1b. I've been slowly moving more and more content to the Blog portion of the website, for which I use Nucleus CMS to update and maintain

2. Flash (.flv) video, encoded in Adobe After Effects [oh, how I yearn for native FLV export in Vegas!] and html coded in either Coffee Cup Video Player, or the FlashVideo Java plug-in for Nucleus CMS, depending whether it's on the main site or in the blog.

1. Dreamweaver CS3
1a. / 1b. Dreamweaver (Wordpress / Podpress for the blog; Coppermine for photo gallery)
2. Flash (just starting since I recently got After Effects, Flash, etc); .wmv, QT (.mp4 for iTunes),

The site has been pretty stagnant for about a year, but now that I have the CS3 Suite, I've had a chance to start updating & improving it. It seems like I've got a long way to go, so I'd love any feedback you have....

1. FrontPage (but thinking about going to Dreamweaver)
2. WMV9

I need to make a few updates. Have been considerring Dreamweaver due to no support for FrontPage. Web design isn't my core business, but I've gotten more requests for that type of work...which goes well the corporate production and marketing stuff I do.

I've gone total CMS - both of my sites are running Wordpress 2.5.x.

1) Photoshop 7 for Graphics
2) GoLive 6 for editing PHP files
3) TopStyle 3 for CSS editing

I no longer have to constrain myself with editing HTML all the time - in fact, I don't offer static web pages when building sites for clients. Gimme a LAMP server running the latest version of Wordpress and life is tolerable in the web design aspect of my life. In addition, Wordpress is W3C xhtml standards compliant so the site looks the same no matter the browser you use and uses style sheets to handle all presentation elements.
