PCI Lanes and CPU Upgrade

I'm about to upgrade my ancient PC with a new motherboard and CPU.  At this point I'm leaning toward the Intel I7 5280K .  I know most people steer towards the 5930 for the 40 lanes, but do I really need it?  I never plan to use multiple video cards, just my single 290x.  Nor do I plan to install audio or nic cards requiring PCI lanes.  Though I am considering adding one or two pci e based memory cards at some point.  So I might need another 8 lanes, but that still only brings me to 24 which is 4 short of the 28 available.

Any thought? Are my assumptions correct or am I missing something?

If you buy this by Wednesday you can stop worrying about it for $110.00. Plus, you'll have slightly better performance.

I just noticed the I7 6800 is on sale for less than the 5820K...
