I recently recorded some audio with my iPad (because it was there). I was surprised to hear how Vegas Pro 22-239 decodes the file. Please add support for such files to some future release of Vegas Pro.

The audio event plays on both my desktop and laptop (VP22b250) ... BUT ... it is nothing but maximum level static. Surprisingly, the waveform on the timeline is minimal in size.
@john_dennis@andyrpsmith@Dexcon I've made more tests. This encoding requires you to install the QuickTime decoder and enable the QuickTime plugin in Preferences -> Deprecated Features. In this way, it can be decoded normally.
Since I need to import some old QuickTime encodings, I've always kept it on. It won't affect the decoding of Apple ProRes, which uses a new decoder, so enabling it won't have much impact.

Plug-In
Name: qt7plug.dll
Folder: C:\Program Files\VEGAS\VEGAS Pro 22.0\FileIO Plug-Ins\qt7plug
Format: QuickTime 7
Version: Version 22.0 (Build 250)
Company: MAGIX Computer Products Intl. Co.
The QuickTime web browser plug-in is no longer installed by default and is removed if you have a previous version of QuickTime on your PC. If you still need this legacy plug-in, you can add it back using the custom setup option in the installer.
You need to add it manually during installation.
QT Lite 4.1.0 is also a good choice. It's a pure codec extracted from the original components of QuickTime.
With W11 24H2, Vegas Pro wants QT installed even when QT is activated in Deprecated Features. The last version of QT for Windows was 7.7.9, but since Apple ceased support for QT for Windows back in 2016, I am disinclined to install it when I really don't need it,
I recall that years ago a Vegas staffer commented on the forum that QT was relegated to Deprecated because the cessation of support for QT in Windows might mean that it could have unintended interactions with Vegas Pro and Windows as they developed over the years.
It would be good for this format to be moved out of the Quicktime decoding bucket if users are often encountering ALAC. I think MJPEG MOV is already decoded natively in VEGAS.
Since I rarely have any other reason to load Quicktime, I would be more likely to convert ALAC audio files to WAV in another application. My goal in the post is to encourage native support as @RogerS suggested.
Though I don’t advocate for the devil, I do stick up for her from time to time.
