Please make the ZOOM VIDEO PREVIEW retain is previous settings

Every time, I restart Vegas I have to reset how I want the preview zoom to behave. it is annoying and I fail to understand why they would make you reset this every time you load vegas. This is suppose to have the best workflow of all the NLEs and I have been using it since version 13 and paid for a license every year since no matter if the version sucked or not, but you all keep doing silly things to slow me down that make no sense. I don't know who else to try to resolve this mindless stuff other than posting in this forum as I have never gotten a response from magix.

@Joe-is-Hungry-Channel There needs to be an option to Retain Last Setting, so people who want the zoom level to automatically go back to 100% are also accommodated.

Intel Core i7 10700K CPU @ 3.80GHz (to 4.65GHz), NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2060 SUPER 8GBytes. Memory 32 GBytes DDR4. Also Intel UHD Graphics 630. Mainboard: Dell Inc. PCI-Express 3.0 (8.0 GT/s) Comet Lake. Bench CPU Multi Thread: 5500.5 per CPU-Z.

I agree, just dont understand the thinking to take that away making the the work flow a little bit slower and more annoying. Just don't understand the thinking or the lack there of unless they are letting AI help with the coding

@Joe-is-Hungry-Channel You seem to be having various issues with Vegas not retaining your last settings after a restart. This sometimes happen when Vegas is still hanging in the background after its closed..... Try this: after putting all settings how you want it, close Vegas, and double check in the task manager that remnants of Vegas is not hanging around...... You can try that as a start.

Joe-is-Hungry-Channel wrote on 12/27/2025, 8:00 PM

been there done that, I have spent a of time searching the web for answers. it is actually coded in to Vegas. My hopes that posting in here and filling out trouble tickets, that someone will pay attention and look into it. I appreciate your help and have seen that thread a long time ago. Imam not a new guy, I have been making 2 to 3 10 minute videos a week for 8 years totaling over 800. All done with Vegas starting at version 13. I am a loyal user and own license for all versions in between and have gone through the progression. not normal for me to post in here as I usually get flamed or at least I did in the first few years. But I use it because of the work flow. I am a MS DOS guy from the 90s and like the basic interface which has way more stable over the years, but i see them keep removing the little things that stream line operations which is important to me as I am usually on a short time line to produce film and edit. I find it sort of annoying to have made major improvements like have the explorer window auto refresh, which saves me an extra click, every little bit helps when you are spending 12 to 14 hours on a 10 minute video, the mysteriously the active take information in missing when you minimize a track which is important when I am spending three hours building a key framed text only title roll with 30 tracks that won't fit on my timeline in full height and I can not look at the active take information when I have them all minimized to fit in the time line. Sorry I don't mean to unload but, I just hope the developers are actually thinking about some of the little things they somehow removed and just call it a bug that they never seem to get around to addressing. makes me wonder if they are using AI to help code and trusting it a little too much. I use it for SEO descriptions for Youtube and tiktok and it helps a lot but you till have to be careful and check it closely as it often screws things up a little. I support the software by purchasing every version even if it turns out to be unstable and buggy and just use the old version till they get it cleaned up. One more thing right one I use version 22 for the title rolls with all the text video tracks and 23 for the rest of the video. The only reason I post in here anymore these days if after days of work, clean installing research on an issue, I put it here crossing my fingers and hope an actual developer takes notice. Trouble tickets have never been responded too.

Good Night

The developers may not read every thread so it's good to post here as well (you can link back to this longer thread): https://www.vegascreativesoftware.info/us/forum/vegas-pro-feature-requests--134374/?page=28#ca947396

I don't think the problems with VEGAS are due to AI-generated code, more likely an antiquated code base combined with not enough engineers and not enough testing resources for all the combinations of media and hardware that are out there.

I think other users are trying to help you in case the issues with settings not being retained is that VEGAS is crashing upon exit (settings are saved as part of the exit process); if that's not the case for you that's not relevant.

Nobody should be "flamed" for making comments about their experience or improving VEGAS's UI and if you feel a comment has crossed the line please report it and a moderator will take a look.

Joe-is-Hungry-Channel wrote on 12/28/2025, 9:42 PM

Naw, I am not worried about flaming. People (long timers can be a bit defensive). I guess I'm a long timer now :) since I have been at it for 8 years and over 600 videos. I think opening up a real beta test program would be a good thing so at least I can have some real input. As apposed to this beta testing on the paying users and paying little if any attention to what the real issues are or our complaints. Or at least that is the way I see it from my point of view.

No, I do not doubt that making something work on many different platforms is difficult but, the stuff I am complaining about has nothing to do with stability. These are just minor features that streamline my editing when emersed in a 18 edit. As a matter of fact stability has improved since version 19.

The settings, like auto preview being turned off by default on every restart are not being retained when exit, not when crashing. I don't expect it to be able to when it crashes which it does now and again. I have advanced save turned on for once a minute and that keeps me from losing my project.

Probably the best suggestion, I have is open up a REAL beta test where the participants have a direct line to the developers. I would be willing to spend my time doing that and my editing is pretty basic, I rarely ever color grade. Just key framing and many many cuts timed to music with velocity vectors.

right now my work around, is to use Vegas 22 build 247 for the intro and title roll where I have up to 30 video tracks because of the active take info loss in version 23. then finish the project in v23. You may have noticed that I don't use v22 build 250 because they left a bad bug in it that they never fixed before moving on to 23. You cant save presets for brightness and contrast. I don't even want to bring that up because I hope at some point they will fix 23 so the little things mentioned get fixed, or at least I delude myself into thinking it will happen.

But thanks for replying to me, and thank every one that has sent suggestions, but This is not my first rodeo with Vegas, I don't come in here unless I had exhausted all recourses.

I stick with Vegas because that is what I am used too and I have to keep production moving and can not slow down to learn another NLE as my channels have become successful.

I am posting this to point on that active take information is now missing in version 23 and perhaps bring it to the attention to the developers and a possible fix as there appears to be no solution. If you are actually just curious why I use so many tracks I will make a screen shot.

PS. I understand that it doesn't work for you & showing a screen grab video of it not working might not be useful, but unless others like @Dexcon @Robert Johnston @RogerS @J-Toresen @Steve_Rhoden @3POINT can replicate the behaviour of it not working in their versions of VP22 (250), it might mean that this 'bug' is at your end & not a universal bug that all witness.

@Joe-is-Hungry-Channel I'm asking because I've experienced Windows Security blocking access to certain folders for some apps. Therefore, I've enabled Windows Security Exclusions for these apps.
Maybe this is a reason why Vegas doesn't "remember" some settings.

right now my work around, is to use Vegas 22 build 247 for the intro and title roll where I have up to 30 video tracks because of the active take info loss in version 23. then finish the project in v23.

@Joe-is-Hungry-Channel Could you show what you mean with a screenshot? I'm also wondering when I watch your YT content, (which I find quite silly and annoying, but that's just my opinion) for which purpose you need up to 30 video/title tracks?

I am posting this to point on that active take information is now missing in version 23 and perhaps bring it to the attention to the developers and a possible fix as there appears to be no solution. If you are actually just curious why I use so many tracks I will make a screen shot.

@Joe-is-Hungry-Channel Do you know that you can group selected tracks and collapse them into one track to make room to edit and view other tracks.

Also it's not necessary to use for every text event a separate track, also you can add additional text to an existing text event by using keyframes.

@3POINT It took me a couple of reads to understand that, but 💡 Aha! 🤸‍♂️👍, I've own VP since version 18 & have never clicked that keyframe button 🤦‍♂️🤣🤣🤣 Xlent, I think that will be useful, thanks 👍
