Did you enable auto indexing for faster search using the explorer? I had this problem and this stuff is working on a regular base, say every minute. I had a lot of dropped frames with this. Disable it by means of the windows explorer.

meanwhile, I'd say if you have Norton installed, you may not have fully erased the old files you mentioned. Right click the Recycle Bin and empty it. See if you pick up a lot of room. Then DEFINITELY defrag the drive that you have your media on. If you have been recording and then erasing a lot of stuff, it is for sure fragmented.

ok.....well the culprit seems to have been an irate e:drive...threw it out and no more problems....thank you all for all of your help
