We need more information .. what render template did you use?
Did you perhaps solo the video track?

You're rendering a Main Concept render template? If it is to prepare a DVD and you're using THAT Template, chances are you are JUST rendering the VIDEO and not getting the AUDIO too - which is correct.

What do you want to achieve?

Grazie

I have been having the same issue ever since doing the upgrade recently. If you keep trying to render sometimes it works just fine. Yesterday I rendered a video four times before it worked. I had a small edit to make to it though and today I am going through the same nightmare. No one has been able to offer a solution and I am about to give up on Sony at this point. Before the upgrade things worked fine. I have been a Vegas user for years but it is now unreliable.

Here is a link to my original post on this issue from several weeks ago.

I have been using vegas for years and the only thing I did differently is upgrade.

robiii, I have looked at all your posts and threads, and bluntly stated you have not given any information about your situation. Yes, that's right you state a situation, but how can anyone help - YOur configuration of external drive hardware, your source audio, sources of all things on timeline.

DETAILS
robiii wrote on 7/3/2014, 7:07 PM
I am using Windows 7 64 bit operating system with 6 GB RAM,. My audio source is my sony camcorder It records in MPEG format. I pull the files into the timeline as audio and video, edit and render. Been doing it this way for years. After the update it doesn't work. Is there any more info I can offer that would help?
How about if I un-install Vegas and re-install from disc without doing the upgrade?
I am rendering to a Mpeg 2 format.
robiii wrote on 7/3/2014, 7:09 PM
more info - my files are on an external HD. I have tried rendering to that HD as well as rendering to my local C drive as someone recommended.

Why don't you post a very short sample clip and a sample .veg file to download to see if anyone of us can duplicate what you are seeing.

In addition, we still need to know EXACTLY which MC template you are using and whether that template has been modified or not..

Tom
robiii wrote on 7/3/2014, 7:24 PM
Can you help me discover where to find the MC template?
If I take a piece of the video which is 35 minutes long, it sometimes works.
Is there a way to post a sample clip here?
robiii wrote on 7/3/2014, 7:26 PM
Here is the video I actually got to render yesterday after four attempts. Each attempt took 50 minutes.

I needed to make a very small change to the video and today after 5 attempts is still won't render with audio.
Tom Pauncz wrote on 7/3/2014, 7:33 PM
The MainConcept template I to which I was referring is what you choose when you select "File" -> "Render As..."

From your clip, it's obviously SD, so I am guessing it's one of the MPEG-2 templates.

When you bring up the "Render As .". dialog, you should see 3 MC set of templates AVC/AAC, MPEG-1 and MPEG-2. When you expand the lsit and select the one to use - WHICH IS IT?

Also, what is file ext of the clip that your camera records?

Tom
robiii wrote on 7/3/2014, 7:46 PM
My sony camera records in MPG format. That is also the file extension, correct?
I am selecting MPEG 2 to render to and using the widescreen NTSC. It is not a custom template.
Tom Pauncz wrote on 7/3/2014, 7:51 PM
It could be - how do you get the video from the camera to the computer? is it files based, or do you "capture"?

The file extension may only be a wrapper.

OK .. bring up the Render As .. dialog, select the template you normally use and then press the Customize.. button. When that dialog opens, click on the audio tab and make sure you see a check mark right at the top that say Include Audio.

robiii wrote on 7/3/2014, 7:54 PM
It is file based. I download through the sony supplied usb cable. Been doing it for years.
The audio tab is checked.

Audio: 224 Kbps, 48,000 Hz, 16 Bit, Stereo, MPEG
Video: 29.970 fps, 720x480 Upper field first, YUV, 6 Mbps
Pixel Aspect Ratio: 1.212
robiii wrote on 7/3/2014, 7:56 PM
audio mode is stereo
pschoacoustic models is 2
audio layer is 2
Bit rate is 224
default emphasis
sample rate 48,000
robiii wrote on 7/3/2014, 7:59 PM
I just copied and pasted the first 20 seconds or so of the original video into another project and rendered it. Still no audio.
robiii wrote on 7/3/2014, 8:02 PM
It just rendered fine in WMV format but still has the issue in MPEG 2
Tom Pauncz wrote on 7/3/2014, 8:04 PM
Can you post a very short sample of one of your video files somewhere for download?

I'd like to try as I have not been able to repro your issue on VP13.

Tom
robiii wrote on 7/3/2014, 8:05 PM
It also renders in MP4 without issue.
robiii wrote on 7/3/2014, 8:07 PM

EUREKA! I just rendered successfully in MPEG 2 the small sample I sent you. This one has me stumped. It is like Vegas has a mind of its own. Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't
Tom Pauncz wrote on 7/3/2014, 8:14 PM
OK .. that file tells me that you are NOT using Vegas Pro but Movie Studio. Am I correct?

Tom
robiii wrote on 7/3/2014, 8:16 PM
oops! Yes you are correct. My bad.
robiii wrote on 7/3/2014, 8:19 PM
I also just noticed it says Platinum 9 (pro pack) but I installed version 13
