@Steve-Zoicks-Iconic when you see the footage in Vegas, is it this way round & looks correct? the way round you want?

This clip i just made says in MediaInfo that it's Width 3840 Height 2160 but when i drag it into Vegas & it asks me do i want to make the project the same as media, i click yes & it puts it the right way round (in portrait as i filmed it)

Steve-Zoicks-Iconic wrote on 12/7/2021, 9:58 PM

As it seems I must have unknowingly pressed 'NO' when it asks to match the project setting when I drag a clip into the Video Tracks it actually shows the video in 3840x2160 (widescreen shot 16:9). In all the clips I would use the Event Pan feature and select "Match output source" and then use the key points to select what part of the clip I want displayed in the Video Preview.

I am going to redo the project partially and see if this created the problem.

@Steve-Zoicks-Iconic I don't know if it'll make much difference but doing what you were doing is asking Vegas to do extra 'things' changing each clip, so it's def worth trying it..

@Steve-Zoicks-Iconic also check the frame rate of the project, it'll show at the bottom of the preview window. your mediainfo said 24fps, if you click Yes when importing it should match the imported clip, the way you had it before @ 25fps Vegas was squishing it into place, every clip was having to drop a frame every second, or whatever the correct terms are.

Hi Guys, giving you an update here. @Former user I checked to see if my project settings were different to the footage take caused the problem and regretabbly not. Given you can create so many different keyframes in clips asking each clip to match the output source wasn't the problem.

As @RogerS mentioned

That said, there are reported issues with the newer 30. Intel drivers- I am staying on 27.20.100.9664 until they are resolved.

I went back to the last driver and while this improved the issues, it didn't resolved. It only gave me another 20 extra minutes to work on the project.

Can't seem to work out why it keeps crashing.

Even using BCC (Boris) transitions causes VEGAS to crash - and yes I uninstalled and reinstalled all of my boris addons.

The only one thing that comes to mine was the last update of VEGAS. Since that update all this has begun. Could be this actual build of 424. I sent a support ticket to Magix and waiting to see what they say. I also have sent them report upon report upon report when VEGAS crashes and asks to send reports. They would have received about 20 now.

Frustrated.

Interestingly I started the same project in Adobe and no crashes, no slow/lags between video track clips on preview. Not a big fan of Premiere, however disappointed with VEGAS. Pro 19 was meant to so good.

Spent the last 4 hours redoing all the work in Adobe Premiere 2022 and all the problems I was experiencing with Vegas Pro 19 did not exist. So it seems to me that the problems I experienced here is actually related to the stability of Vegas Pro since the last build update.

I was able to complete the entire 40 minute project with dozens of effects, 100s of keyframes, chromakeying, special effects, color grading and other things and Adobe Premiere handle it without once crashing, freezing or not-responding. The preview window or project window as called in Adobe Premiere was smooth which meant I can actually edit and watch the edit without lagging or crashing.

The solution I believe here is sadly, as I am a fan of Vegas, has just not been at par with stability and complexity when it comes to high-end professional builds. I did not have these issues when before the more recent update. I also sent this to Magix.

Adobe Premiere Pro here is the solution.

It is unfortunate but true, Premiere's stability has improved greatly, but not so with Vegas. There are Topics brought up such as "Why isn't Vegas taken more seriously", "Why isn't Vegas used by professionals" , you get a variety of answers but for you as someone that works in Television your number 1 complaint was stability.

As for your problem directly. your AVC iphone files causing constant crashing where previously it didn't. it could be related to upgrade in quicktime format by apple which would have happened during a firmware upgrade, For HEVC iphone files this actually made them play in Vegas with GPU decoding while previously they didn't, but perhaps it makes AVC playback more unstable. Could be many other reasons but fact is Premiere was flawless for your project while Vegas causes you endless problems.

If you go back even 4 years in this forum you'll see how many more professionals used to post here and how much more active this place was. It's a real shame what has happened, so many people left for other NLE's

My heart has sunk reading this, I have just upgraded from Sony Vegas 13, that I have been using so happily for years without any problems to Magix Vegas 19, and now I have this problem continually. Incidentally, I only upgraded because I added a GoPro Hero 10 to my camera bag and needed HEVC support, though I have none of its footage in the project I'm working on, only regular footage I've been using for years without a hitch. I even did a clean install of windows and Vegas and still the same. Sony Vegas 13 ran lovely on my PC, Ryzen 9 3900x, Radeon RX5500XT, 32GB ram, PCIe4 NVMe etc, but Vegas 19 so unstable that I can't use it. I think I may just have to stick with 13 and use 19 just to convert GoPro footage to something 13 can use :(

Consider creating your own thread so you can get specific advice. 19 is the most stable release since 13 and if configured well should work fine. Please be sure to share MediaInfo for the footage you are using.
