I made video of the problem with Movie studio 17.0 Platinum - have a look to Attachment

VEGASDerek wrote on 1/10/2023, 2:38 PM

Thank you for the video but that only showed what you already told us. You still need to provide some information about your system. This crash is likely related to an issue with one of the video encoders being initialized and it is having issues with your computer configuration. Until you provide that information, we are unable to provide any help. Please read through the information from the page I linked to in my previous comment, specifically looking at sections B and C.

In any case, in addition to the things that @VEGASDerek asks, at least provide build number of VMS Pl 17 and screenshots of Options/Preferences/Video and Options/Preferences/File I/O

Hi, I do as your comment.

Specs : Dell Inspiron 7720,Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-3630QM CPU @ 2.40GHz, RAM 16 GB, Windows 10 Home, version 22H2, Movie Studio 17.0 Platinum , vers. 17.0 (build 223)

The iGPU associated with that CPU is problematic and below the system requirements. I would suggest deactivating that GPU so VEGAS Movie Studio does not attempt to try to access it.

Hi Derek,

unfortunately I have no idea, how to deactivate GPU on my Inspiron Notebook. Would you provide me any manual for this?

In VMS Pl 17 go to Options/Preferences/Video and switch off "GPU acceleration of video processing"

In VMS Pl 17 go to Options/Preferences/Video and switch off "GPU acceleration of video processing"

That will not affect the launching of the render dialog. Deactivating the actual GPU is the best solution. The other option is to go into preferences, select the General Tab, and unselect "Enable QSV Encoding and Decoding".

Hi Derek, I am back again. Unfortunately your advice doesn´t help at all. I am wondering. With my laptop I was making videos in previous versions Vegas 11, 14,15 without problems. This problem appears at first time in version 17. However, I have made planty videos in version 17, without using advence set up output formate. I can not go back again to the previous version - if you understand. Do you have any other help, how to use vers. 17 fully?

FayFen wrote on 1/14/2023, 12:04 PM

@jiri-zamazal your Dell is ~10 years old, when the last time you run disk check and other hardware tests.

VMS17 is discontinued for more than 2 years. Did you try reinstall? maybe different build?

jiri-zamazal wrote on 1/15/2023, 2:36 PM

Hi FayFen, My Dell is OK, I ran check disk and HW test. Before I complained VMS17 I made a reinstallation of that on Build 223. Exist a new one?
