The first thing I recommend you try is a full program reset. This often fixes problems that happen out of the blue. However if it does not work, it would indicate that something has changed on your computer and this is causing the problem. Have you installed any new Video FX or other programs recently ?

Instructions for reset:
Hold down the CTRL + SHIFT keys at the same time AND ALSO AT THE SAME TIME double click program icon on Desktop to Boot program.
Window will pop up.
Select Delete all Cached Application Data and then press Yes.

These troubleshooting tips were written for Vegas Pro, but pretty much apply to Movie Studio too: https://www.vegascreativesoftware.info/us/forum/faq-vegas-pro-won-t-start-what-can-i-do--104784/

Thank you both for the quick response and help.

After experimenting with various suggestions it appears that it is the Quick Time plugin that it causing the problem and it works OK with that disabled. I wonder why? - it's worked OK before. I'm not too worried about not being able to use .mov files but it seems strange.

Thanks again.

Don

That is a bit strange. Maybe I should add it to the FAQ. Do you know which version you have? The last one is Quicktime 7.7.9. Some older versions of Vegas worked better with Quicktime 7.6.2 but usually those were before VMS12.

I have version 7.79.80.95. I have tried activating the plugin again but it still stops it. It does open after exactly 1 minute but the panel remains.

If you still want Quicktime then I would give Quicktime 7.6.2 a whirl and see if that solves it.
