Looks like I've postponed my zzzzzz.s since I got your file, Grazie.
What you should see once it's all up there:

a) Encoded it in Flash (top part of the page) Right-click or reload page to re-play (no player coded in).

b) Added link for anyone to download the .wmv you sent.

Something down here is not talking to something over there very quickly, waiting minutes to even initiate the download.

I tested in from my end using basic DSL, it took 2 minutes to download the .wmv.
Hope ya get it eventually.

It took about 1 second to play here. Uber cool Grazie, any chance you'd want to post the .veg? Maybe it would work like a tutorial in that I can see the difference between your cool one and my stupid ones.

Very cool! Thanks for sharing!

[now I have more examples of things to try, burning up what little free time I have! : ) ]

Well after 2 hours of trying still impossible to download!!
"Save Target As" > "Gathering File Information" takes forever and eventually downloads "grazie-make_my_day_test_with_3-d_path_protype_1a.wmv" as 0 byte file.

Tried GetRight, same result.

Tried 2 PCs, one with IE6, one with IE7.
Both same results.

Who's are you trying? I just DL'ed mine no problem in under a minute. It's hosted on a GoDaddy server. I tried it in FireFox & IE on XP.

Bob, which place are you trying to download it from?
Grazie wrote on 9/22/2007, 8:21 AM

That was awesome!

Well, after uploading the file for Grazie, then getting some sleep, coming back here... sheee-ezus: 3 places to get it seen - lol. Talk about a friendly place.

As far as mine working in Firefox and IE7, it does. The Flash isn't showing up in my IE (which I rarely use) because it isn't properly installed in it.

Last but not least, I was all wrapped up in making the page for you, Grazie, and forgot about the content....

NICE job, sire G! :)

"Bob, which place are you trying to download it from? "

From here:

http://www.vegasusers.com/vidshare/textdisp?grazie-make_my_day_test_with_3-d_path_protype_1a

Clicking the WMP Icon the page opens WMP which eventually times out saying it cannot play the file because a Network Error occured.

Click the "Download" link in IE6 produces a progress bar at the bottom of the IE6 window that stalls at 40%.

R-Click the "Download" link and Save Target As:

"Getting File Information" takes forever and at best save a 0 byte file.

GetRight from the same link tries to get:
http://www.vegasusers.com/vidshare/fetchvid/1190494661/grazie-make_my_day_test_with_3-d_path_protype_1a.wmv
Reports:
"Connected, loading directory content..."

And there it also sits for many minutes waiting for something to talk to it.

GetRight in folder view shows the following:

www.vegasusers.com
/vidshare
/fetchvid
/1190494661
/grazie-make_my_day_test_with_3-d_path_protype_1a.wmv

And reports the folder as empty.

This is not a connection speed problem at this end, I'm on a 10Mb cable connection that's pretty close to PacRim i.e. a very fat pipe to the west coast, download from here to the USA are normally very fast.

Rather the problem seems to lie in our DNS resolving the destination URL. That's a really wild guess on my part as I'm no guru on such things. This is not the only occurence of us down here having this kind of problem either from other web sites in the USA. The SCS forum used to have this kind of problem very regularly, thankfully fixed of late.

Bob.

EDIT:

I should mention that I can download any other file from the same site very quickly without ANY problem!

Possibly the file name itself is the problem???

I could download the wmv without problems, but wasn't it metioned to be a piece of TUTORIAL, not just a demo (great BTW)?

I'd appreciate it very much to be shown step by step how to use the tool - it'd push me quickly up on the learning curve:)

AMD TR 2990WX CPU | MSI X399 CARBON AC | 64GB RAM@XMP2933  | 2x RTX 2080Ti GPU | 4x 3TB WD Black RAID0 media drive | 3x 1TB NVMe RAID0 cache drive | SSD SATA system drive | AX1600i PSU | Decklink 12G Extreme | Samsung UHD reference monitor (calibrated)

"but wasn't it metioned to be a piece of TUTORIAL, not just a demo (great BTW)?"

NO!
The topic says "Example" and Grazie was pretty specific about saying it was not a tutorial.

======================================================

Getting back to the issue of me being able to download this thing,
I just downloaded "peeks-weddingpresentation3" without any hitch.

I'm now pretty certain the problem is the file name itself causing the issue, too many "_" and/or "-" causing the DNS to not find it.

Bob.
Chienworks wrote on 9/22/2007, 3:31 PM
Really bizarre. DNS has nothing to do with the name after the third / (the one that comes after .com or .net, etc.) so whatever is after that cannot affect DNS at all. It might still be the file name that is causing havoc. I'll have to do some investigating.

I'm a 'short file name' guy myself. Never quite understood why some folks give files names that reach all the way across the screen. *shrug*
TheHappyFriar wrote on 9/22/2007, 3:32 PM
bob: i've had better luck with "Free Download Manager" then any other downloader. but it sounds like an issue on your end ("end" being not the server but something between you & it).

but you've got two other places to download from so.... :D
