Quicktime uncompressed export

imaginACTION_films wrote on 7/20/2015, 5:40 PM
I've produced several 5 minute clips for a couple of local rock bands. Produced in Vegas Pro 13 and rendered to mp4 for the web and cineform HD for storage. One of the bands needs their clip in uncompressed Quicktime MOV because they use a real time video switcher driven by a Mac Book Pro.
How can I render these projects to MOV? I have tried the Quicktime templates within Vegas but I get truly awful, scrambled results.
I do have Edius 6.5 which has numerous output options but at the moment it won't install properly. I'm seeking help from Grass Valley.
Any ideas?
Thanks!

The uncompressed MOV format produces very high bitrates.
Uncompressed formats are not designed for playback or preview.
It's probably just fine for editing

[SWAG]

I rendered using this template with good results for editing. File size was huge. 24 bits per pixel*frame. I don't know if it will meet your clients requirements, but I am curious.

Here is the configured template. It goes in C:\Users\Username\AppData\Roaming\Sony\Render Templates\qt7

You'll have to show hidden files in the Control Panel.

Please give me negative feedback if I'm all wet.

Here is the Mediainfo report. Looks like the bit rate is hokey.

without being rude, does the band know what they're talking about?

i would be questioning the need for full uncompressed playback for anything other than editing.

Leslie,
The band dude always knows.
Except he'll give you a different story next time . . .

john_dennis,
"Looks like the bit rate is hokey."

(24 * 1920 * 1080 * 23.976) / 1 000 000 = 1193.1992064 Mbps

The math works. The overhead to get the video displayed is extreme.
