Yes, my shout Grazie (by the way, had a pint of imported Adnam's ale the other day - beautiful!)

I think you've captured the mixed feelings of the community beautifully - we don't really like the way this all happened, but there's something very seductive about those MB results.

Installed 10 hours ago.

Used on a client's footage - they're blown away!

Bought it today and haven't even installed the 32 bit version yet!

64 bit has been rock solid so far!
Very happy!

lol@Grazie, glad to hear it man, I've said it before elsewhere but to my eye even when only using MB in moderation on a project there's some bit of nuance that just makes almost everything I do look better.

Anyway, if anyone hasn't seen this yet deffinatly worth the watch, its a great basic overview of Magic Bullet with a few good insights and tips even for those that may already be familiar :

Thanks for the link Ray - it looks really good and informative, but I've tried watching it 5 times, and it goes back to the start each time it reaches 4.min 4 sec. I'd love to see the rest of the 26.12 !

Yeah, Ray, I watched Simon's trip around the new features, Pop, Colorista items,
and the colour reducer tutorial, made all the difference to what is now, an added-value investment. Simon gave that all important understanding to what and where the narrative could be enhanced and subtly bent. Oh yeah, the swing focus trick! People should really watch the Tute to see what is available.

When I first read the release announcement I was pushed to attempt to load my MBL 1.1 onto my new BEAST. Wasn't long before I saw myself needing to upgrade.

Yes Grazie, I did the same, except my beast's old - and I got so many error messages that I thought $99 wasn't bad to get rid of 'em all, and it did.

As a matter of interest, what look did you apply to impress your clients?
Grazie wrote on 10/1/2011, 4:03 AM
Ah, the INTERVIEW (in "People"?) and the doco stuff and the one that used the Colorista item. That POP is just what I've needed in terms of control.

Having the HD output now from my Canon XF300, fed into MBL, is just perfect control and outcome.

Grazie

So your using the camera as a way to view the footage in MBL on an hd monitor?
Can you explain your set-up.
Ros wrote on 10/1/2011, 11:20 AM
Just out of curiosity, did any bought the entire MBL Suite 11.1 at $299?

I only wished Colorista II was out for Vegas in order to test it out, so finally went only for Looks 2.
Will be upgrading Mojo once it will be available 64 bit for Vegas.

I'm not streaming output from the camera. I'm editing using my HD output in MBLs.

I didn't buy the suite.

Can you explain your setup hardware etc? I still use a sd broadcast monitor through the firewire port (will not output mbl to monitor). I want to upgrade to an HD solution and be able to live preview changes made in MBL on the HD monitor

can mbl 2 be animated?

broke down and bought it simply for the lighting (quicker than doing it in vegas alone) but don't see any options for animation....

ushere, one of the things I've been waiting and hoping for. Though I haven't seen it mentioned elsewhere it does appear so. I have yet to use it but played with it some. In the plugin chain, that is when you add MB to a clip or layer, when you close the interface and are at the plugin chain on the bottom there is the animate button. Just click on that, add a keyframe, bring back up the MB interface and make your changes.

Thanks Muttley, it works!!!

Wasn't expecting keyframing with MBL 2, it works like a charm.
I got the Spot Exposure mask moving from left to right, amazing!

So happy about MBL 2, nice new features, better than I expected.

Also "Working with Looks Presets in Magic Bullet Looks 2" video was really worth watching, thanks for posting Muttley and thanks to RedGiant!

Edit: if you need to animate 2 different filters at a time, just have 2 instances of MBL chained and there you go.

thanks ray,

will give it a whirl....
MUTTLEY wrote on 10/1/2011, 10:26 PM
lol, totally with ya on that Rob and no problem, glad it worked! Like I said just played with it enough to be stoked that it was there and seemed to be functional. II can't believe I haven't seen this talked about in their materials or anywhere else because for me this addition is HUGE.

Well Ray, that's not new. We had this previously, no? What RG have not done, unfortunately, is to allow for us to use the new Animate from within their package. IMHO, SCS blinked. I really hope this isn't a signal to other 3rd Party pluggers to break ranks. Do you see my point? GenArts, with Sapphire Edge have pulled out all the stops to ensure they are abiding with our interface and the new OFX paradigm. Interesting......

MBLs is a valuable tool for me. It is a professional one-stop-creative-shop. But I've learnt to temper my enthusiasm when it comes to seeing just how embracing one supplier is over another. Back to that "Love" we spoke of - yeah?

But what do I know?......

Grazie

Grazie wrote on 10/2/2011, 12:51 AM
And the other thing I meant to add..... No realtime adjustable playback WHILE in MBLs.

Grazie

ushere wrote on 10/2/2011, 1:01 AM
agree entirely with grazie on both points.

i want to track a talking head with 'interview', but it's a pita.
Grazie wrote on 10/2/2011, 1:40 AM
Thanks Leslie.

What will come back at us is that MBLs is for a complete "take" - not what the majority of Vegas users have come to learn, and that's inter-take adjustments. My advice? Place Splits at the change frames then return to MBLs. Messy....

The other thing to be aware of is that 'cos MBLs is blind to the realtime adjust, the Animate diamonds FADES aren't recognised. Meaning, when I make a change within MBL, from an already placed diamond, the change can only be abrupt, and makes for a style jump, yeah? To further accommodate for this I've made a Split and yanked back over the change so I get a gradual change.

Has RG, with this latest revamped MBL woo-ed me back? Well, I bought it, didnt i? But that does not mean I've got me eyes closed! No matter how many candle lit dinners, soft lights, boxes of Belgian chocs and flowers they bring to my office door, I know the habits of this particular suiter.

If I've, in the words of that famous C&W song, "Stand by my......." I'll do it, but eyes wide open.

Grazie

Well, I'm glad for those of you who can afford Red Giant's suites though I agree that this yes-no-yes-again policy was/is a bit confusing. For us paupers, the loss of the bundled Movie Looks HD (the only versions left are VP5-VP8 in my experience) was a bummer and I called Red Giant a few months ago about it.

While the woman was professional and helpful, "We're sorry but..." was the basic answer.

The only way I can apply it is to apply it in my 32-bit VP8 or VP10 as a separate process, then bring the clip back into my 64-bit VP10.
Which is a nuisance but a workaround.

And/but here comes my hissy fit....

After discovering this thread and news about all this, I visited their site and saw that:
--- they've issued a new Movie Look HD for

So the teenager with an IPad in his or her bedroom shooting some silly YouTube video has it.
But not users of the more current versions of Vegas Pro 64 or 32-bit.
Sheeeee-eeeezus.

--- End of hissy fit ---

Soniclight? I didn't buy the suite? I upgraded my MBLs for $99.

grazie, that's what i've been doing with this job. have to say i love the ease of lighting, but have had to rework my overlays so i can chop up the underlying interview. PITA
