Since my computer is dying, I will need to install 14 on another machine and I can't start the program. How do I UN-authorize the program for the current computer?
This solution would work for my copy of Vegas Pro 14, but my copy of Vegas Pro 13 (which was transferred over from Sony) does not offer that option. Then what?

PRO 13 will activate the same way it always has. Just input the code and wammo. At least my Vegas 12 does.

Which brings up a question about older versions of Vegas under Sony. Used to be you had so many activations before you had to contact Sony to get them renewed. How is Magix dealing with this?
JJKizak, are you saying that if I pass along my copy of Vegas Pro 13 to someone else, all he/she needs to do is plug it in and go? (I don't need to deactivate my instance)

I've been told it should be exactly the same way it was before, and I put this in FAQ #9.

The deactivation functionality via the Magix website is only available for serial numbers that start with "P3", which were introduced in VP14 and VMS14. Previous versions are as they were before, whereby after a number of installations on different or updated PCs you may need to contact support to reset your "installation count".
Before Magix you had to send Sony a signed fax stating the transfer from you to whoever with names, addresses, and serial numbers. With Magix you have to do what "Nick Hope" says.
My preference is to just have it deactivated from my machine and then let my friend register it himself when he activates it on his machine, presumably making him the name of record for the license at that point. Does that not work?

Transfer of license to a different name was possible under SCS. You can find loads of hits if you search this in Google:
