Render Problem with GL Transitions – Vegas Pro 21

hitman47 wrote on 8/3/2025, 4:11 PM

Hi everyone,

I’m facing a strange issue with my project in Vegas Pro 21.

I’ve used 5 GL transitions in my timeline. They all play correctly in the preview and the settings are properly configured. However, when I render the final video, some of the transitions do not appear as expected — in fact, one or more seem to be missing or incorrectly displayed in the final output.

To clarify:

All transitions are visible and functional inside the timeline.

No nested timelines or compound clips are involved.

I’ve tried both AVC and NVENC renders – same result.

The transitions are directly applied between simple video clips.

Has anyone encountered a similar problem? Could this be a bug, or is there a workaround (maybe related to cache or GPU settings)?

Any help would be greatly appreciated — I’m just about to finish this project before leaving on vacation, and this bug is really holding me back.

Thanks in advance!

@hitman47 Hi, I think this would have to be replicated, so -

'simple video clips' - can you give the MediaInfo of the clips, & say which GL transitions you're using?

Also a full screen picture of the entire Vegas UI, a picture of Preferences - 'Video' & 'File IO' would be useful.

Most of my files are mp4 and my project hd 1920x1080. the gl transitions are cube, directional warp, Water Drop, cross zoom.

Does an AVC render mean MagixAVC with Mainconcept? If not I'd try that too.

hitman47 wrote on 8/4/2025, 12:51 AM

Of course i have used both encoders. When i render it changes the gl transition i have stored. For example i have selected gl cube, when i preview its ok, bute when i render it oes something elese, like gl directionl warp.

RogerS wrote on 8/4/2025, 1:24 AM

Thank you for clarifying. What about outputting to a quality intermediate format like Apple ProRes? From that you can easily convert to AVC or HEVC with third-party software.

Beyond that I don't know- other workaround could be turning off GPU acceleration in preferences/video or turning off GPU decoding in preferences/file io. Especially since the GPU is under the 4GB VEGAS is looking for maybe disabling it could help?

I don't know if this is an issue with media decoding x transitions or just the transitions. If there's a project you could share I'd be happy to test it in 22.

Thats not a good solution. I dont believe no one can helpe me. I even deleted cache, truned off gpu accelaration, made incremental saves. Nothing. Its just keeps loosing confusing the gl trasnitions. the others transitions are ok, but seem so unprofessional now.

I can remember some strange behavior of GL transitions, which I seldom use, in earlier Vegas versions. I don't see this issue in the actual VP22 version.

What's not a good solution? We're volunteering our time to help you- I understand if you are frustrated but try to be clear with your responses and not critical of our attempts to help.

Is there's a project you could share for testing? If the media doesn't matter I'll swap in media I have.

i also got this issue several times..
as i remember if i set dyn. ram preview size to 0, i can render just fine

try it

There is no option changing to other format just for a simple transition. I totally hate it cant keep two gl transitions in a row i save it many times and when i render just this part for testing it does another gl transition, most tiems the previous i changed

Last changed by hitman47 on 8/4/2025, 3:45 AM, changed a total of 1 times.

How do you know?

Did you try relax video's suggestion about dynamic ram preview?

Do you want us to test something? If so share a project file.

@hitman47 there is information needed to help troubleshoot your problem.

Which version build of VP21 are you using? Which specific GL Transitions are you using? What created your source video? MP4 is a container. It can contain anything, like a trash can. Can you provide to the cloud, one short video for others to try (in addition to which GL transitions are used).

Otherwise, we will be running around in circles playing "20 questions". And when suggestions are suggested, try them and report back. Otherwise, some might think you aren't really interested in seeing if there is a fix since you don't answer about the suggestions.

Look i am using vegas pro 21 bundle 315, it is very stable. The project is huge 28 minute swith a lot of evnets. It worked fine for months. But i reopened it for coreecting sum mistakes and i increased the duration, so i added more events, video and audio. Also it doesnt matter wich gl transitions. I am using cube, directional warp, swap. I doesnt remember my settings. So if i upload you 10 videos and you apply some gl trasitions it will work. It worked for me too. But suddenly it stopped worked. it cant rember my gl transitions settings and i t changes to another.

Something elese strange happened. When i rendered just the small part with the transition to test it, it failed after 2-3 tests. I t worked for the first one or the first two. but then if faield, I tried numerous times. So i gave it try and after i saved everything, i cloed it and i reopened, i di a whole render with nv encoder and everything worked. It diddn work sepperately for 10 seconds videos but it worked for the whole 28 minute project! How is this possible? Now i am taking the risk and i am rendering with AVC encoder for the final result. But its very strange.

Have you tried RESETTING Vegas? It will be like when you first installed it.

If it is working for others but not you, then there is a problem with your computer and/or the installed Vegas.

I think you will be ok in Vegas 21 build 187-208. Or try Vegas 22 250. I think it will be more stable (I had another problems with 21-315, but in this version engine was changed and was not debuged)
