rendered so long

Nath.veg wrote on 4/12/2024, 12:50 PM

Hello, I'd like to know if it's normal to spend 4 hours rendering a double POV video that lasts 25 minutes (without effects)

it's literally a shame in big 2024 to have such long renders, especially when you know that your main competition (abode première pro for example) executes this kind of render in 30min maximum wtf???? btw (with 4060 TI & RYZEN 7 7800X) LOL

I'd also like to add that on your new version, it's all very well to add new features (which are unstable, by the way) and which bug other features, like, for example, the adjustements layer which allowed me to transition and which now doesn't even work, great! (and so on).

Check your File I/O under Preferences and make your graphics card is selected under "Hardware decoder to use".

Are you using the color grading panel or other Fx? Can you say which Fx?

Nath.veg wrote on 4/14/2024, 12:38 PM

yea, color panel and this on 2 cams

And your first post you claim you are rendering it without effects, and now you say you are rendering it with effects... Effects slow down render times, even in other apps. Even in 2024.

Last changed by fr0sty on 4/14/2024, 3:15 PM, changed a total of 1 times.

I correct myself: without too many effects, and yes okay so a shadow effect, and removing a green screen background aren't supposed to make the rendering 5 times slower, and no, on Premiere Pro, renderings with a lot of editing are done in a maximum of 1 hour.

RogerS wrote on 4/14/2024, 9:53 PM

Watch the GPU during the render- it may not be fully utilized by VEGAS dramatically slowing things down.

With VP 21.300 when I enable the color grading panel I see 100% CPU usage, even on my 5ghz 14 core machine, so everything else has to wait. Add other Fx on top of that and it will get further bogged down. Previous build were faster for Fx (but slower for decoding media).

If Premiere works better for you, go with it.
