Rendering AMD VCE 50 fps Vegas Pro 16 update 5

HelgeK wrote on 7/1/2019, 4:00 AM

If I render my projekt with the setting AMD VCE 50 fps, the rendering works just fine with AMD 2700X and RX480 grafic card.

I can look at the result on PC, but not my LG Oled TV. Claims file isn't recognized.

Rendering with CPU only or AMD VCE 59.94 works as i should.

Sounds like a bug, or is there a setting I missed?

Windows 10 and all drivers are up to date.

I have also an Oled LG, look in my signature and I have no problems with 4K 50p of the Magix AVC or HEVC.
Which model do you have and which year did you bought yours, this is very important for the filetypes that are supported.

Your signature doesn't mention you having any VCE hardware encoding graphics

Did I say that I render with exact the same template as the OP?
He even did not mention the exact template.

Only the 50 fps AMD VCE that fails.

Interesting, so rendering CPU only encoding the 50FPS works on your LG TV but doing the same profile using AMD VCE 50FPS it doesn't?

Check with VLC or a mediainfo tool what the exact encoding details are and see if you can spot a difference between those files.

Just found out its the same with 60 fps. Its the Magix AVC/AAC MP4 version that doesn't work with AMD VCE. 50 or 60 fps is the same.
Magix HEVC/ACC MP4 works for both 50 and 60 fps. So Ill use the instead.

I guess it doesn't matter too much if you're encoding just for yourself but as a general rule the SOC graphics on media boxes and tv's won't decode above 4k30p h.264, even if they do 4k60p h.265/VP9. It is maybe a case that your TV is able to downconvert the software encoded 4k50/60p files to 30p but not the VCE hardware encoded versions. I don't know about the technicalities just taking a guess.

In my case my tv & PVR won't play 4k50/60p h.264, and my media box can't use it's hardware decoder to play the file so it attempts playback with cpu, but it's cpu is too low powered, so it's a laggy mess.

High@L5.2 - 3,840×2,160@66.8

Main@L5.1 - 3,840×2,160@31.7

So, L5.1 (used in VCE) is just not enough for 50 fps in this frame size.

The difference i have noticed with 50 or 60p instead of 25/30 is the smoothness. Its a huge difference.
