Project frame rate and properties? Properties of your source files?

Render frame rate and properties? Still the same as your other post?

"Im using the render template:"

Can you post an example of the hiccup (still or short video segment) on a file upload site? You might put the hiccup back on a Vegas Pro timeline and save a frame or segment.

Congratulations on only needing help every five years. You could bump your other post just by adding a comment at the end. No need to start a new thread.

I've been looking for that thread! I couldn't find it.
lewesgoalie wrote on 10/14/2014, 6:42 PM
For a sample, I have a link to dropbox

There are 5 :30 vids with various hiccups
lewesgoalie wrote on 10/14/2014, 6:46 PM
Frame Rate is 29.970

Which other properties?
lewesgoalie wrote on 10/14/2014, 6:53 PM
Sorry about that. The previous thread suggested the GPU in main preferences fix. I did that and it reduced the hiccups but not completely. I went back and re-built the files to see if that corrected it. It didn't and I couldn't find the old thread.

I see these artifacts when I put the Fort Miles 1 FINAL.mpg file back onto the Vegas Pro timeline. I see tearing at about 0:15 seconds with Windows Media Player but I don't see it on the Vegas Pro timeline.

Please post the Mediainfo properties for the source file. (Note: Refuse the crapware.)

Sorry, I have no idea what you asked me to do
john_dennis wrote on 10/15/2014, 8:51 AM
I'm looking for the characteristics of the source file, wrapper type, field order frames per second and bit rate. Mediainfo is an application that can display those characteristics.

In Windows Media Player, I see compression artifacts on transitions that could indicate the bit rate is too low, possibly in the source file.
lewesgoalie wrote on 10/15/2014, 9:35 AM
Still confused. Do I need to download the mediainfo program? I don't have admin privs, only IT can do that. I uploaded a Fort Miles B roll that I filmed with the same settings. The Source file in particular is pretty large so I went with a smaller one that should be the same settings.
When I looked at the Properties of the Source File:
Video:
Data Rate 22935 KBPS
Total Bitrate 23191 KBPS
Frame Rate 29 Frames per Sec
Audio:
Bit Rate 256 BPS
Audio Sample Rate 48 kHz

If all your source was of this quality and your project properties in Vegas Pro 11 are set correctly, your output should look very good.

Working...
lewesgoalie wrote on 10/15/2014, 2:21 PM
They do look good with the exception of a minor hiccup that isn't in the same place twice.

That is why this is so frustrating. I have probably rendered that Ft. Miles video 20 to 25 times and haven't been able to get one, glitch free render.
john_dennis wrote on 10/15/2014, 3:24 PM
Is this one glitch free?
lewesgoalie wrote on 10/15/2014, 5:47 PM
Yes, that is a sample of the videos straight out of the camera. I thought that's what you needed to find some of the settings.

I will be honest, when you said:

source file, wrapper type, field order frames per second and bit rate. Mediainfo is an application that can display those characteristics.
In Windows Media Player, I see compression artifacts on transitions that could indicate the bit rate is too low, possibly in the source file.

I thought you suddenly started typing in another language.
Is that what you meant by Source File? A file straight from the camera?
john_dennis wrote on 10/15/2014, 6:15 PM
My previous link was not the original. I rendered it with the HDV render template in Vegas Pro 13. I uploaded it to see if your playback application or device was causing the hiccup that you see.

So you didn't see an issue with this video?
lewesgoalie wrote on 10/15/2014, 6:18 PM
it looked fine. I didn't see any jumps at all. Could it be caused by my layers?
john_dennis wrote on 10/15/2014, 6:23 PM
I'd try a different render template and codec.

Try Sony AVC/MVC (*.mp4, *.m2ts, *avc) / AVCHD 1920x1080-60i and see if that is better.

If you're curious about something in the project, you could upload your project file (.veg) without you source files and others could try it on different machines.
john_dennis wrote on 10/15/2014, 6:42 PM
Please check Field Order in the Project Properties.

Please check Field Order in the Project Media Window. Right - Click a file and select Properties.

Your source file had the Field Order "Upper Field First". Every other combination I tried produced interlace artifacts.
lewesgoalie wrote on 10/15/2014, 8:27 PM
That seems to be working fine now. Thank you so much for all your help!
If you are ever at the beach in Delaware, beers at Dogfish Head!
john_dennis wrote on 10/16/2014, 12:20 PM
Glad you got it working. I'll be stuck in California for a few months, then, who knows?

I left a voice message for a friend who vacations in Delaware every year. If he's still there, I'll send him over to collect.

My friend Dennis, had the beers at Dogfish Head but he brought me the empty glass.
