So, which CPU is driving your two video cards? What effects are you applying to the timeline?

Galaxy wrote on 11/16/2016, 5:18 PM

I have one video card, the RX 460 (2GB), and a Pentium G4400 for the CPU. I'm not applying any effects, just a video file, no audio. 8GB DDR4-2133 if you needed to know the ram.

what's the file format on the tl, the property settings of tl, and what are you rendering to?

Sorry, not the most intelligent, what's tl?

john_dennis wrote on 11/16/2016, 10:23 PM

The G4400 in its fastest version is still a dual core with no hyper-threading. You just don't have enough CPU. Consider a quad core processor if you can find something that will fit your motherboard.

The RX 460 is probably not helping much, either

tl = timeline. Vegas renders some or all of what's on the timeline.

Sony AVC/MVC is extremely resource intensive.

Check your motherboard documentation to see if an i7-6700 will be a drop-in upgrade.

thanks john...

what john says is very pertinent, but also knowing what you're trying to do with what would also be helpful...

Hey, on the timeline there is just a 2:05 minute video, with no audio.

If Sony AVC/MVC is very intensive, what template should I use? I may want to do 720p60f, but right now just 720p30f.

ushere wrote on 11/17/2016, 5:19 PM

but what is the video - mp4, avi, mxf? what are your tl properties - do they match what's on your tl? what template are you rendering to?

Galaxy wrote on 11/17/2016, 8:44 PM

I'm rendering to MP4, Sony AVC/MVC, and I dont know what the timeline properties are, just that its a single clip (check the links above).

ushere wrote on 11/18/2016, 12:03 AM

your tl is 720 and you're rendering to 1080...

where's your source material from?

first step would be to match your tl properties to your source footage - use match properties at top of properties page...

By "tl properties" I assume ushere means Project Properties.

I made a thread about troubleshooting rendering quality but it may also help you. If you still need help, pay careful attention to section #6 and consider sharing the clip somewhere like Dropbox public folder or Google Drive: https://www.vegascreativesoftware.info/us/forum/why-does-my-rendered-video-look-bad-quality-troubleshooting-basics--103361/
