Request to Magix: Please free up some more screen real estate.

Hi,

I know that Christmas is over, but I've got another item for my wish list, for **** the team at Magix. I like the way I can set up (and save) the layout in MVP14. But there's one little grouping that I don't use, and there is no way (that I know of) to hide it. I talking about that little box containing the commands for tags. (Control+1. Control+2, etc.) If I could (re)move that box, I could free up that space to see another row or 2 of thumbnails, which would be quite useful to me. Anyone else find this to be a need? If so, please chime in. Or if you know of any existing means of accomplishing this, please tell.

Thank you.

I never really thought of it because I have absolutely no idea what it is supposed to do. So yes, it certainly would be nice if there was a way to remove it (though then there would have to be a way to bring it back if someone who knows what it is and uses it wants it back).

Not sure if I mean what you mean – but the media tag box of the window "Project Media" could be collapsed by deselecting it in the window's view menu.
(Though I find tagging is such a cool way to quickly organize media.)

I don’t see that option. Only one to deselect Project Media altogether, but not to deselect just the tag box:

It's a menu option on top of Project Media's window (not in Vegas' main menu).

Where exactly ? I cannot find it or you mean by deselecting the "Project Media" window itself ?... which make no sense here has it is only the tag box that we want to hide.

Can't show it as I just got my smartphone with me. It's a button ("View"?) on top of Project Media's window which will open a dropdown menu and in that dropdown menu its the last point.

Thank you all. Whew! Who wudda' guessed there'd be another "view" option besides the main one at the top. Apparently some of you guessed it; I didn't. I withdraw my request, ****.

Well, clearly, you’re not the only one who did not know about that. I for one am glad you started this thread.

Also thank you :) maybe is there a way to hide also media bins? Im using only "all media".

Rainer wrote on 1/17/2017, 3:20 PM

Guys - seriously - if you ever need to do a slightly more complicated project, learn how to use the bins and tags. Greatest time saver ever. You'll never look back. And if you ever do, you'll be so embarrassed that you ever wanted to hide them.

I never used them, too much hassle. When I ingest all my source material I already put it in a proper project folder with a proper structure. After that, I either pull media straight from Windows Explorer or inside Vegas Explorer.

I tried to use them once but found it a bit messy (probably just me). Like Old smoke I just use the bins with a project specific structure, works for me. I'd never have found that drop down choice to hide the tags panel so thanks.
