RX7 plug in and Action Panel

Raoul-Ceccone wrote on 12/4/2020, 3:47 AM

I have just bought Vegas Pro and I have installed Soundforge too.

In Soundforge Instant Action panel there are the RX7 plug-ins but once I click on any of them I get this message and could not run them:

“No suitable rx 7 De click (Vst,64 bit) version was found - Make sure that the plugin is installed properly and rescan.“

At the end I bought the RX 8 Elements and installed, it works fine, but it doesn’t show up in the Istant Action panel instead there is still the RX 7 (which does not work)

But now I would like to disinstall the RX 7 plugin and see the RX 8 plug ins in the Action Panel, how can I do it?

Thanks a lot :-)

In the Options/Preferences/VST Effects window (both VP and SFP), make sure that the folder where the RX8 plugins are stored is selected as a Location path - this can be accessed via the Add Path option in that window. Then hit the Refresh button.

If you don't want RX7 plugins in VP or SFP, delete the folder in the VST Effects window that directs VP and SFP to that folder (it doesn't delete the source folder on the C drive) - or just uncheck the check boxes in the VST Effects window for the FX that you don't want to be active.

Different versions of RX can usually co-exist quite happily on the same computer, it's just a matter of using the VST Effects window to decide which RX plugins are 'pointed' to.

Thanks a lot for your reply

RX8 is installed properly and it works but I do not see it in the Action Panel

RX7 is visible in the Action Panel but when I click itI get the error message.

Moreover I can not find anywhere the RX7 plugin folder. I would like to delete it since I won’t use it.

Please read again my reply about how to get RX8 plugins into VP and SFP. Correct me if I am wrong, selecting VST Effects in Instant Action takes you to the VST Effects window.

I am sorry! I explained it wrong, is my bad english.

RX8 is working also as plug in inside Soundforge.

I have done the following step and Soundforge recognised it as a plug in and everything works fine

In the Options/Preferences/VST Effects window (both VP and SFP), make sure that the folder where the RX8 plugins are stored is selected as a Location path - this can be accessed via the Add Path option in that window. Then hit the Refresh button.

But I can not "delete" the RX7 from the Instan Action panel. RX7 does not even show up in the VST Effect Window. Maybe during dowload it has not been installed at all?

And I would like to get ride of from the panel and just see the RX8 icon

Can you please screen dump (PrtScr) your VST Effects window (from Options/Preferences/VST Effects - not Instant Action) and upload to this post.

Hi: Sorry for late reply!!

Here are the print screen of

VST Effect panel

Soundforge where you can see both RX7 and RX8

Error message when I click RX7 in the action panel

Thanks a lot :-)

@Raoul-Ceccone
I have the same problem.

Prehistory:
I bought Vegas Pro 18 with Soundforge attached.
When installing Soundforge, RX7 Elements was automatically installed, but without a user license.
Last week there was an offer - "iZotope Holiday Bundle" with RX8 Elements in the luggage - I bought it.

Now, as suggested by @Dexcon , I have deactivated the RX7- VST Effects in the Preferences ......

.
...... but they are still displayed in the Soundforge Pro workspace - but cannot be selected there and produce an error message.

As far as I know from the Soundforge Pro forum, the icons were hard-coded into the workspace and CANNOT be changed by the user.

The programmer knows better what the user needs.
Very bad Software-Design.

Thanks for the reply!

Is a very strange design decision!! I hope they will make it more flexible soon! Anyway I can't find anywhere the RX7 plug in folders, at this point I think that there were not even included in my Soundforge download, strange.

Last thing... I have 2 folders with RX8 plug ins. Is this correct??

C:\Program Files\Common Files\VST3\iZotope ( here there are .dll and vst3 files)

C:\Program Files\Steinberg\VstPlugins (only .dll files)

Thanks

Those are the paths as I recall.. at least the Steinberg\VstPlugins

Those instant action commands cannot be changed AFIAK.

In meinem Fall sind die RX7 Plugins in den Foldern, die du unten angeführt hast

It looks the same for me - but unfortunately I can't say whether that's correct.

I also hope that Soundforge-Pro will change the design of the Instant Actions so that it can be flexibly adjusted by the user.

Yes. At this point it seems a common thing to install them in 2 folder.

Thanks to all for the great support :-) :-)
