Screen Capture - any solution yet?

Martin L wrote on 10/24/2019, 4:23 AM

I have read several threads about the Screen Capture feature in VP17 not working. It's the same for me. Just black displays and no audio from microphone.

Has anyone at all managed to solve the problem? Or is waiting for a new build with a fix the only option now?

Thanks to @Marco. with me it works now in build 321, but I don't use it untill more options will be available.
Look how it goes now with me on laptop.

That's nice. What help did you get from Marco? Did you also have black screen at first? Can you also record yourself speaking into a microphone while screen ecording?

Can you also record yourself speaking into a microphone while screen ecording?

No problem if I want it, but most screencaptures I do without mic.
Because the mic. is always on at my laptop I there switchthe option always off

Thanks. I have a Radeon GPU so I guess the advice doesn't apply to me.

Screen Capture working but no audio at all .. I'm running Windows 8.1 .. could this be the problem? No separate sound card installed on my system. Sound coming from motherboard. Asus PX979 .. Realtek® ALC892 8-Channel High Definition Audio CODEC ..

Can be, because it is not for nothing that VPro 17 needs W10.

Went through an online chat with Vegas support. They think it's to do with my motherboard and the onboard audio. Something might be lacking or set wrong.

Interesting outcome ... I installed the latest drivers for Realtek ALC892 .. then tested the Screen Capture .. Audio worked fine .. I even got a mic input working .. Problem ! .. My system no longer detects my headphones .. by this I mean "headphones" do not show up as a Playback device when plugged in -- but the headphones work fine. "Speakers" show up as a Playback device but the speakers DO NOT WORK AT ALL -- In other words, my audio device is screwed up and not working right. I rolled back the drivers and all is well again. Since Screen Capture is no biggie for me, I can install the newer driver as needed and then after I'm done, roll things back to normal. Maybe when I have the time I'll find a solution where everything works as it should.

The latest Realtek audio driver does not have the feature that it used to have and that known as Audio Jack Re-Tasking.

So you can try to install older driver version (I've found that R281 is the latest version that has the feature so I'm using this driver) OR connect your speakers into green audio socket and then connect your headphones into your speakers (if you lucky to have that socket there).

P.S. Sorry, I do not know if the driver I mentioned works with the VP17 capture discussed here

@fifonik Thanks for the info on Realtek drivers. I'll look around for a copy of R2.81 .. It's so confusing how they name the drivers -- and of course one must be careful with downloading files from unfamiliar websites. I'm going to ask Realtek if they can provide it ...
