Screen capture does not capture my screen (only audio)

Hello, I've got a problem with my Movie Studio 16 Platinum Steam Edition.

I'd like to record my screen to make some lessons for my students now that the schools are closed for 3 weeks here in The Netherlands thanks to Corona/COVID-19. I tried opening screen capture, but only the audio seems to be getting through, VU meters are bouncing around on the sound playing at the moment. The screen is blank with only the position of the mouse on the screen. The mouse stays in the spot where it is when I open the screenrecording.

When pressing record and finishing the recording all I have is a .wav file with the song I was playing and a 0 bytes video file.

Am I missing some settings maybe? I've gone through them but couldn't see anything obviously wrong.

Also a google search did not bring much. A lot of youtube tutuorials, all with a nice working screen capture app. Not me though :(.

I'd appreciate any help. Thank you.

My setup:

Vegas Movie Studio 16 Platium Steam Edition (16.0 build 175)
Windows 10 pro (1909) (build 18363.720)
MSI B450 tomahawk motherboard
AMD Ryzen5 3600
16GB ram
RX5500XT 8GB (tried older 19.x drivers and also newest update to 20.x does not help)
Screenresolution monitor = 1680 x 1050 (Dell 2209WA)

Als oud onderwijsman wil ik je wel proberen te helpen in deze kennelijk stressvolle periode. Om e.e.a. een beetje duidelijker te krijgen kun je eerst even screenshots laten zien van je Windows apparaatbeheer zoals deze

en van het nog niet gebruikte screencapture beeld zoals deze?

VEGAS Capture may not work on some systems which have an AMD GPU

OK, I never used AMD stuff and I think @matthias-krutz knows more about that, so let him help you. When it is an AMD issue I think it's up to AMD to clear this problem with an option that has to work normal on the right hardware for it.

I am also waiting for a fix. In the meantime, I am using the freeware OBS with these settings for screen capture.

@j-v @matthias-krutz thanks for helping out! I've tested OBS and it works like a charm! I'm very happy and this means I'm able to produce something for my students.

👍 OBS and Screenpresso I also always use untill now with a lot more options than the new Vegas app. now has. But we shall wait and see what Vegas does with it.
