For anyone interested, the revised script, RenderEventAddAsTake is ready for testing. It can be downloaded here.

For each selected event, the script renders to a new file using the render template defined by the user for that particular frame size/frame rate combination. The resulting file can be added to the event as a Take or added to a New Track or Both. There is also an option for keeping Pan/Crop FX which can be useful for pre-rendering. There are now a number of options for the folder location of the rendered files.
To use, first read the script notes CAREFULLY. You will need to make changes using a text editor to choose your save option and also to insert the name of the render templates you want to use for the frame size/frame rate combinations of interest to you. You can use Notepad, but it is much easier to use a text editor that shows line numbers such as Notepad++ or EditPad Lite since the script has over 600 lines. It's kind of a pain to set these up, but once done, you can do a render very quickly without using the very tedious template selection GUI each time.
If you are having problems you can send me a PM or post back. Grazie has reported a problem using Twixtor where it renders correctly, but does not add the Take. I could not replicate this, but perhaps someone else could.
