Scroll timeline with Contour Shuttle Pro 2

NickHope wrote on 1/12/2005, 9:25 AM
As a habitual mouse user I've been having trouble getting going with my Contour Shuttle Pro 2.

I think I'd find it more useful if I could set the jog and shuttle controls to scroll the timeline instead of moving the timeline cursor. But unfortunately there don't seem to be Vegas keyboard shortcuts for scrolling the timeline, so I don't think it can be done. Does anyone know if it can be done?

thanks!

JKL keys ? No? . .Have I got this wrong? .. G

L : >>>>>

J : <<<<<

K : STOP!

Plus, keepyour finger on either J or L and you can whizzzz forwards or backwards ..

ALSO! Tap eith the j or L and you get to set scrub speed too!

Did you mean this?

Grazie, You're talking about scrolling the timeline cursor, he's talking about when you grab the top of the timeline and just slide it along. As far as I know there aren't any keyboard shortcuts for that. sorry

IDIOT! Thank you Frigid . . and yes there is ..

I like this one .. my own discovery ahahaha

1/- Put muose over the time line times - lil hand appears ..

2/- Left Click and hold and you can geab the timeline and move say right

3/- Continue moving right and the t/l will scroll right . . move it OFF the screen and it will whizzzz along!

4/- Wanna go Faaaaster? Then still holding the Left button you can speed up by sliding DOWN the lil hand and move UP to slow up.

It does work!

In fact, if you get adept at it you can "arc" the lil grabbing hand from Waaayyyy ove rLEft to Waaayyy over Right you can get the whole project zooming backwards and forwards . . great stuff!

This is cool. Though there is no way to get such a mouse action adapted to the Contour Shuttle. It must have been a keyboard shortcut to be able to be transfered to the Shuttle device.

Thanks Grazie, the grabbing of the timeline with the hand had completely passed me by and till now I've just been using the controls underneath the timeline. I think this method is going to be much better. The acceleration by moving the hand up and down outside the timeline is a really nice touch that I don't think I ever would have discovered if you hadn't told me. Cheers.

Would still be interested in discovering a way to get the Shuttle to do this but your method really helps and I suspect my Shuttle may well be heading toward Ebay in the near future. If anyone from Sony is reading, I'd love to see some keyboard shortcuts for timeline scrolling.

If you decide to rid yourself of the shuttle, let me know. I might be interested.

I knew that grazie (the little hand thing, not the IDIOT thing =)

I just didn't say anything about it cuz he wanted keyboard shortcuts that he could put to his shuttle pro 2.
