Search by typing in Explorer Tab

I just upgraded to Vegas Pro 23 from version 10. Big jump. I've figured out most of the changes but one thing I cannot figure out is how to keyboard search by typing in the explorer tab. Version 23 searches only the first letter but no more. If I type a word, it will stop on a file with the last letter I typed. How can I get it to keyboard search like windows explorer or previous versions of Vegas Pro with typing a whole word?

I generally work from Project Media and was never able to understand why there was an Explorer within Vegas. I will admit that I remember using it for a few days in 2017, though the memory is quite vague and fading fast.

@john_dennis I find it useful for finding files that I wish to add to the Project Media when I don't want to open a Windows Explorer separate window on my second monitor.
