Short Youtube Format (1080X1920) : problem moving an image

davewire35 wrote on 12/4/2024, 7:41 AM

Hello everyone, I have been facing this problem for a while now, which is valid for all kinds of video formats in the end, but as I was making a Youtube short, I can show you in video what problem I am facing.

To clarify my point, I have a problem when I import an image into a project and I want to move it where I want, the latter sometimes has a limited range in its movement and it will start to disappear (like in my video) if I put it too far to the right or left or too far up or down.
Often, I work rather on 2720X1530 formats and the trick I found is to make on photoshop a transparent png image of the same format and I put my image back roughly in the center and there I can move it all over the whole thing (by adjusting well in the image options to put it in 16/9). I find this solution completely painful and I tell myself that there must be something simpler without having to retouch the imported png image or object. I suspect that there is a conflict between my video format and the image format (which is too small) but isn't there a solution to move a png image/object where you want?
I hope I was clear in my description, it's not easy to explain ;)

Try using track motion or the picture in picture Fx to move the images where you like.

Dave, the principle of Event Pan/Crop is that you are moving the picture frame, and not the image; so you have to adjust the size handles carefully. This can take a long time to get used to.

In the meantime, the suggestion to use Track Motion instead is a good one.

There are many excellent tutorials, including your Vegas Help, to get you up to speed.

Right click on the F-Box, then "Match to Output Aspect Ratio" first
