Show us your Vegas 7 windows layout

How have you got your windows set up in Vegas 7? I thought I'd paste some grabs of my dual 1280x1024 setup now that I've setup 3 presets with the timeline at the bottom. The jpeg files are around 500Kb each I'm afraid.

Here's what I've set up for ripple editing raw footage on the timeline .......... full res here

Here's my setup when I need a few more tracks .......... full res here

And here's the full monty for the latter stages of a big project .......... full res here

The most unusual thing about my setup is the little "Edit details" window in the middle that's set to "selected events" to show me the length of events as I'm ripple editing them. Would love to see this info built into the interface.

How are your's set up? If you want to share, hit <print screen> at the top right of your keyboard, paste into your photo editor, save as JPG then upload to somewhere like Flickr.com (1024px wide max) or full res at this new Vegas forum, then link in here.

Hmm... anyone know where I can host those pics at full resolution?

Well, yes there is Nick.

DVInfo has a great way of uploading stills ++++ It has it's own Vegas Community there.

You could START a new thread devoted to ONLY Vegas Workspace Examples!!

Great idea Nick!

Don't forget my page :) heh heh heh

You can host away there.

100kb limit on DVinfo unfortunately Grazie. I can't get them under that even at half size and medium quality.

Jonathan, if I register on your site can I upload pics of 200-600Mb at 1280-2560 px wide and hotlink to them from here?
Jonathan Neal wrote on 9/16/2006, 4:07 AM
200mb? Um, you shouldn't have a photo that large for the web (yet). You're welcome to upload photos that exceed 10MB, but even then, they better 480000x480000 maximum quality JPEGS to justify how you achieved such a file size.

In short, yes, upload away, if you run into a problem with attachment sizes I will personally fix that the moment I hear of it. Happy uploading.

Doh, I mean kb not mb. Cheers, I'll get over there.

I've increaed the grabs to 1024px wide (max allowed on Flickr) and added full res grabs (courtesy of this new Sony Vegas forum) to my original post.

Thanks for hosting Jonathan. I've also added a similar thread to your forum. Keep an eye on your bandwidth in case it goes nuts.

You're welcome Nick, glad it works for you. Everybody is welcome to post their high-res/full-res images there. As far as I know, bandwidth will not be a problem :)

Adobe Vegas - yea it's cheaply done, but you were curious to click, weren't you?

So... where is the option to change your background color to a Dark Grey?

I've been using 'WindowBlinds' to Skin my VEGAS interface. But if I can do it natively... I would much rather do that.

I like the 'Adobe Vegas' look. It's really easy on the eyes when you're editing for long hours.

Google for “UXTheme Multi-Patcher”. The only reason you can’t do this natively is because Microsoft has crippled XP to only recognize themes that are purchased from Micro$oft. This utility patches your UXTheme.dll file to remove the “Microsoft only” check and then you can apply any theme you want. Realize that programs like WindowBlinds add a whole lot more capability but if you just want new themes, the patch is the ticket. Set a restore point first just in case things go wrong.

These look interesting but I don't have a monitor that's six inches high and four feet wide.

I.e., just have a single monitor. Waah.

Hi Nick,

I like your layouts and could learn a lot from them - thanks for sharing. I can not see the fullrez.versions - I get an 'unauthorized to download attatchment error' when trying to see them.

Thanks.

Me too. Jonathan, something's up with your board.
Jonathan Neal wrote on 9/17/2006, 9:31 PM
I set up the boards so that only registered users could view attachments. That is the reason you are getting that message. I'll see if I can allow guests to view images. I'm sorry about that.

UPDATE Changed the permissions so that unregistered guests can download attachments. I also changed the maximum file size limit to 24 MB. Enjoy. :)
