Dang it Randy, you're right, I should be ashamed. I'm a Yankee transplant man, moved to Austin from Chicago when I was 19, don't know what else to tell ya. What's that saying? "American by birth, Texan by choice"? I think that's it. Anyway, to make matters even worse I actually do a bunch of editing for a country site that's called "Y'all Wire" so I really have no excuse.

LOL...don't feel bad amigo I had to be corrected (I spelt it the same way as you) by my little sister after living in Fort Worth for 30 something years!

Hi Randy, I shoot all manual. If you're asking about presets, I use a lightly customized version of the TrueColor preset that gained widespread fame over at DVinfo. You can sift through the massive preset thread (and probably a few others) and find the preset and a couple posts by me (Steven Reid), concerning slight tweaks to TrueColor for the removal of a slight bluish tint that afflicts some A1's with that preset. The preset gives a very flat color (the author of TrueColor insists that it gives the most color information possible), which I like because I usually color grade with some combo of Vegas and Magic Bullet.

That day I had my zebras at 95% or so. With the overcast sky, I had very hard time keeping everything properly exposed. Clearly, I failed. I usually have zebras no more than 80%.

Most footage was at 24p, shutter at 1/48. Most of the slo-mo, however, was shot at 60i (shutter at 1/1000), converted (with some loss of quality) to 60p, time-stretched, then conformed to 24p (again, all in Vegas).

Anything else? :)

So it was. It was actually set so that nobody other than me could look at it. I guess that explains why there were so few views! It can be viewed by anyone now:

Well, I can't stack up to the levels of most of you for I'm a serious and passionate amateur, not a pro -- and my subject matter is more ethereal or soul-romantic and quite stylized. But so far the best I've done via Vegas, Particleillusion and Cubase for music at its own page at my website (all of which is also my own design).

I also know it has its limitations and one can critique it until the cows come home. In addition, just about everything except for the effects are made from still images/stock. I can't afford a model, etc. I do the best I can with what I have.

Please Note: There is a short before-viewing notice.
Honor your own sensibilities to choose to view it or not.
No, it's not porn, but it is sensual.

Image below is only the video's place-holder still, link to video is below it.

Hey Sonic:

How did you do the stars and flames?

Did you get the image of the earth from a stock image provider such as Pond5? I liked the earth.

Regards,

Kimberly

Kimberly,

---- How did you do the stars and flames?

I use Particleillusion 3. I start out with a basic type of effect in the slew of stuff they have and then go to town and make my own. Very tweakable, also rather time consuming but... fun :o)

Then I export only the effect as an alpa .PNG sequence into Vegas, pop on track above and do some last minor color tweaking and such. Sometimes doubling the track of the PI effect adds some additional punch or presence, other times not necessary.

---- Did you get the image of the earth from a stock image provider such as Pond5? I liked the earth.

I could have gotten away with a pan-crop of a still image as a faux-video clip as I usually do. But in this case, it was one of the (now-expiring free clips) given out by ArtBeats of a well done CGI of the Earth rotating from space. As with others here, I have a nice stash of freebies from them -- about 15 Gb. worth :o)

Now, if you're interested in creating your own for free, here is the Wiki page for NASA World WindIt's an open-source free app that uses satellite image and one can simulate flyovers to a certain extend by recording them with an affordable and solid screen capture (still and video) program called Fraps. Fraps is not a slick and sexy site or program but it's a very solid does-what-it-is-supposed-to program -- and a gamer's favorite.

World Wind is NOT like Google in the sense that you can't get the cool over-cities and streets details. It's more for high altitude Earth images and fly-over and such and it's done through quilts of images taken at different times, --- i.e. a Montana area looks better or colors may differ from the neighboring county or state, but they are all sewn together in geographic accuracy.

But the advantage is that World Wind is public access and as long as one credits NASA with it somewhere, one can use whatever still or created-video one wishes.

I've recorded stuff in large resolution with it (temporarily changing one's desktop resolution to maximum for recording so windows are as large as possible.

But if you just want something nice and simple but awesome to pan over in faux-video, just go to NASA and search for individual satellite and/or Space Shuttle missions, There is almost over-choice - lol. On the other hand...

World Wind is also good for still images only because: you can literally fly around the globe and pick the most intriguing "patches" of the quilts, so to speak, instead of going through pages and pages of satellite image archives at NASA which can vary wildly in quality and/or wow-factor.

@Kimberly

Personally, I would prefer to think that Benson has temporarily moved to some nesting beach to fertilize a few eggs prior to their laying.

That is a really nice thought about Benson. I hope "she" is doing just that.

After watching some Doctor Who clips on YouTube, I wanted to make an updated opening for my favorite Dr. (Jon Pertwee). So this isn't my best work obviously, just something done for fun.

I also wanted to keep it fairly low-tech. It's easy to go crazy with the FX, as most of the DW shows did, but I wanted it to be cleaner and less spastic.

I'm actually a little shy to post after all the great content I'm seeing on this thread.

I created the first online serial fitness show in stereo 3D. I'm pretty proud of that. Here's the back story: I have around 9,000 hours of experience as a personal trainer/group fitness instructor under my belt, and was formerly an in-house videographer at DreamWorks Animation, plus I directed a live multicamera show at a large language training facility for a religious institution (the whole 9 yards; 5 cameras, PowerPoint, Inscriber Pro, and the occasional musical number to cover, for an audience of around 2,000-2,400) So of course, the only logical thing do with this type of experience is produce a wacky show in 3D starring myself, right? Anyway, I'm using YouTube's 3D player with an iframe for embedding it on my site, atomic boot camp.

I'm shooting the show in LA right now, but I'll be moving out to Austin soon with my little family, so maybe you'll see Muttley in an episode :)

Thanks for the call to show some work, liquid

I work in-house for a company that manufactures sewer pipe inspection cameras. I know, not exactly glamorous but it pays the bills. I do have to say that the day they release Scratch-N-Sniff TV I'm outta here!

The featured video is my latest and was shot entirely with the Panny GH1: http://www.youtube.com/user/seesnake

Funny story: My high school years were spent at a small Christian school. Years ago my mom fielded a call from the alumni association; they were putting together a printed program for an all-school reunion and wanted to know what I was doing with my life. I thought my mom was very clear on my new job, but I guess not: according to the "Where Are They Now" section of the program I was producing "underground videos".

We just shot some cave footage with a home made dolly:

Still a wee shaky, but considering it is home made and had to be logged through the bush on an hour hike and set up in cramped and dirty conditions, I'm pretty happy with what we got!
