So many crashes in Vegas Pro 18

chris-minchin wrote on 8/18/2020, 8:56 PM

OK, for a start I want Vegas Pro 18 to work, because I like the ease of use, but seriously, there are so many crash's.

I also have found bugs, that to be honest should have been picked up before release of version 18.

What I want to know is when they will make a update/bug fix available, even if they do an interim fix for some of the many bugs.

Build (284) is quite frankly a bloody mess, please do something about it, and quickly!!

Just because it crashes for you, doesn't mean it crashes for everyone. Instead of blowing off steam, you can take the steps required to help you, and you'll find that more often than not, there's a simple fix for your issues.

First thing to try, go into the help menu and use the driver update utility to download the right version of the right driver VEGAS needs to work.

What operating system are you running? .. I had similar problems with VP18. Too many crashes so I'm back using VP17 .. but I attribute the problems I'm having to the fact that I'm still running Windows 8.1.

OK, so how many times do I have to do that, I have downloaded the correct driver for my system three times I have followed Scrapyard Films changes, and it still has at least 5 bugs that make it crash.

My computer is a desktop PC I9 9900K 3.60GHz, 16gb ram, Geforce GTX 1050 TI graphics card, 2TB internal storage plus 10 TB external storage. I have the latest version of windows 10, 64 bit operating system.

I have already read comments on you-tube video's from people having the same problems. I have contacted Magix a week ago and have not heard from them apart from one question. Not the greatest service at all.\

If any clever dicky, thinks they have the answer to the issues, then please tell me and I will let the dozens of others that are in the same boat as me know as well.

As for blowing off steam, I have the right to be vocal about a faulty product that I purchased in good faith.

The problems are that the issues are not the same or they would have been fixed already. I thought I had the answer too, when I did a fix and 17 stopped crashing, but after spending time here realized the symptoms were the same but causes different so it didn't work.

If you want help give details about the media you use, project settings and when you get crashes.

No, you don't. Not here. The rules are clear, blowing off steam is a violation of these forums rules. This is a support forum, not a place for you to vent anger. Do it again and you'll be banned.

If you want help, do what is requested of you in the thread I linked to in my previous post, or we cannot help you.

OK ban me I will continue to say when I find issues. if being a denier of the truth is what it takes to speak on this forum then it's not worth the effort.

I will post more you-tube videos's and cut and past your words to show how fr0sry thinks.

OK, here is what happens when I try to update as fr0sty said, this one is new for me. I'll keep on posting on you-tube until Magix does something.

Based on this video, something is very wrong with this system.

Step 1- I'd uninstall Vegas

Step 2- That video shows you are not using current graphics drivers. Install the latest by downloading the studio driver from here.

Step 3- reinstall Vegas as administrator and see how it goes. If you followed various online tutorials I'd make sure all settings are back to default so you don't get lost in workarounds, some of which are not helpful.

I'm sorry you are resistant to help and refuse to provide the information requested. Based on the scant information provided I think these steps are relevant to you.

I'll keep on posting on you-tube until Magix does something.

@chris-minchin - I guess you'll have too. Or, give us more information about your hardware setups so we can provide you with some support. The choice is yours: YouTube or quiet Support thta is given freely here. I'm guessing that MAGIX won't take the "chiding" but will bat it back to VegasCreativeSoftware who will be the very same Staff that you are commenting on.

For those following along at home, here's an error thread from our chum back in 2019 too!

"OK, where do I start, First off, this version (Vegas Pro 16) is RIDDLED WITH BUGS, and constantly crashes."

@Kinvermark - Great job at offering constructive support.

You might want to Update your GPU driver:

Grazie, I am happy to give you more info, (thought I had posted that a few posts ago). What would you need to know, I will be happy to supply anything that would help.

As for V16, as I remember, it only got fixed when Magix finally posted an update build.

And that's all I am really wanting now, for Magix to post an update for V18.

@chris-minchin - Just stick ALL your Spec in your signature - see mine? Use that as a guide. Also, once the Vegas Team sees it, it could possibly give support.

As for V16, as I remember, it only got fixed when Magix finally posted an update build.

@chris-minchin - An update build could also correct an initial installation issue your end. It was pointed out to you that you had selected 32-Bit Float, which is taxing. But THAT was your choice . . moving on . . .

And that's all I am really wanting now, for Magix to post an update for V18.

@chris-minchin - Well, and until that time, you've got us! More information needed.

OK, I have done everything as mentioned by @RogerS, except I have not installed it as administrator, as for the Nvidia driver I have tried both studio and gaming drivers, At the moment I have the studio driver installed and running.

Have I stopped using 32 bit float?

Not used it at all apart from trying it on VP16 to see if it got rid of the problems

I generally work with 4K 25fps, but sometimes will use 1080p, nothing really complicated, but do use Boris title studio quite a bit in my projects.

@chris-minchin - Good work! Please read my sig and follow suit. We don’t need to know what you’ve run, we need to know what you’re running it on. Read my signature

Real World here: I’ve been running 4k from Dexcon, and off the bat it’s at full frame rate. No issues. Marvellous! NewBlue Colorfast 2, great! Boris is crawling. Definitely some VegasPro <> BORIS needed to be done. Magic Bullet stunning. I could go on. I have zero issues with 1080p. As a Real World test i d like you to perform 1080p QAs tests now, 4k later.

Get that signature sorted out!

@Grazie my goodness, what more do you need to know. Bank account, blood pressure, religion...etc Chris exactly described which PC he's working on.

My opinion, this forum is becoming very Vegasuser unfriendly. When you don't exactly publish all requested details you're not helped and blamed that's your own fault that Vegas having issues. And don't get frustrated because otherwise you might be banned.

I'm sorry to say this.

@3POINT - The format Template example that’s in my Sig.

@3POINT - No, just what’s in my sig. Where does he describe CPU and GPU?

My opinion, this forum is becoming very Vegasuser unfriendly.

@3POINT - Not blaming here, just need the facts. Without the facts we are spit balling solutions.

And don't get frustrated because otherwise you might be banned.

@3POINT - Is this what happened to you? Certainly NOT my experience. I’ve expressed my frustration over the decades, and I’m still here 😉.

I'm sorry to say this.

@3POINT - No worries! No harm done. I’ve recently Bench Tested footage for Dexcon. If I can assist I will. It’s what we do.

Installing as admin may not be an issue- I think I needed to do this circa 15.

So with the current studio driver, and settings reset to defaults, are there still crashes with VP 18?

Quoting your input gives both of us the opportunity to reflect and respond. Thanks for your feedback.
@chris-minchin- Your i9 so similar to mine. The only wrinkle I can see is my higher end RTX. I’m with @RogerS, there’s gotta be an install or some update getting in the way.
