Well, it is the 1st of May... I don't see 7.0e either... I wonder how long it will take this forum's Sony conspiracy theorists to make something of this?

There's no 7.0e, it's a figment of your imagination. In fact, some people in black suits with black gloves and black glasses will be there shortly to give you the "correct information" in 7.0e.
Hmm! Well, with that impressive list of changes, even if there is no Panny support, I expect that this is the last update before 8.0 is released.
Therefore, since everyone KNOWS that 8.0 is already underway and the design is set in stone, I hereby officially open the begging, whining, and hinting for version 9.0.
My first request, a really nice titler.
My second request, a really nice, built-in noise reduction system that is better than the old noise reduction 2.
My third request, an auto-white balance corrector.
My next request (can't count that high), a blue Mercedes (might as well as for something I might actually GET).
Hmm, wonder if I can afford the insurance on the Mercedes. Better ask for that, too.
Don't both the Pany and Sony cameras use the same AVCHD? I thought this is why they developed it together.
Does anybody know why you wouldn't be able to edit Pany's files in Vegas 7e?
I would venture that Panasonic hasn't provided a camera/footage, and that we'll at some time, see the Panasonic version of AVCHD in Vegas.
That said, has anyone TRIED AVCHD from the Panny cams? I don't have one to test, and not about to buy one. I would not be surprised however, if Vegas properly manages the content.
if it's anything like other codecs, it could well be the licenses weren't permitted.
I'm surprised that a reseller would jump to the answer of "something stinks in Madison" when I can go so far as to say that this simply isn't so.
There is no conspiracy at play here.
If nothing else, it's likely that the boys in Madison didn't go buy a camera, and Panasonic hasn't offered one.
if someone wants to send me some footage from one of the Panny cams, I'll work with it. No way I'm buying one based on what I've seen come out of them in webstreams, but that could also be poor encoding. At least the HVX can be rented. I don't think folks will rent an AVCHD camcorder from us.
Has anybody tried the AVCHD edit for Sony cams yet? I've got a buddy on another board asking if it will import the 5.1 surround from the sony AVCHD's and NOT down mix it to strereo.

Spot, you must not spend much time over at thepana3ccduser forum. Otherwise you wouldn't characterize him so. Guy is much like you with regard to providing support to Panasonic videocam owners.
I'm sure you meant no ill will, just trying to set the record straight.
"I've got a buddy on another board asking if it will import the 5.1 surround from the sony AVCHD's and NOT down mix it to strereo."
From the Vegas v7.0e help file:
"You can edit files recorded with Sony AVCHD camcorders just like any other supported media type on the timeline.
5.1-channel audio will be downmixed to stereo when importing into a stereo project. When importing into a 5.1 surround project, audio will be added to separate tracks for the center, front, rear, and LFE channels."
my mistake, Guy, I thought you were a reseller for Panasonic product, based on the http://www.pana3ccduser.com/ website that you operate.
I don't have any interest as to whether Vegas does or doesn't support AVCHD overall. I do have an interest in the format, because we train people on various professional camcorders. So far, I've yet to see a professional AVCHD camcorder, although I'm looking forward to seeing what Panasonic does with AVC I.
the link you provide comes up dead on my end. I'd vey much like to have access to raw files so I can see what's happening there.
A user in Singapore reports that the files open properly in Vegas 7e...not sure what he might have different.
