[SOLVED] 3 hour video, only 1ms of video

JoshuaHotchin wrote on 3/22/2024, 9:43 AM

Hi all,

I used OBS to record 1080p 60fps gameplay (3 hours long)

Settings as:

2500 Kbps

1080p

60fps

Fragmented MP4 (.mp4)

3 audio tracks for myself, discord and game.

I have the 3.72GB file, windows media player won't let me scroll throughout the video, however it looks like there is 3 hours there.

I import the video to vegas and only 1ms of video is there and only 22 mins of audio tracks are there. Any ideas?

I told them a year ago, while OBS was still in Beta, fragmented mp4 is a game changer, need to support this, it will become the default, start work on this now, it's now the default in OBS, every other NLE supports it, but not Vegas. It's almost like they want to go out of business....

You have to rewrap the fragmented mp4 for it to work in Vegas, OBS can do this automatically for you, it's in settings/advanced , tick automatically remux to mp4. OBS can also rewrap your existing fragmented mp4's by going to file/remux recordings

According to some internet users, encoding in OBS to the MKV wrapper first, then remuxing to compatible MP4, will prevent recorded file truncation if there is a stream interruption during recording.

I've never had the problem, so I can't vouch for that advice.

@mark-y The main problem is fragmented mp4 has become the default on OBS as of this month. Vegas's help desk and this forum will be clogged with people wanting to know why their videos don't work. I hope the upcoming Vegas release will fix this

I encourage you to make that a Feature Request, in its own thread, of course.

Downloaded this software, converted. Kept all of my footage and seperated audio tracks. Thank you!

Fragmented MP4 remuxed in OBS to regular MP4 should work great in VEGAS.

I doubt VEGAS will support fragmented MP4 any time soon.
