I have to agree about nesting. While I think that the composition features they're calling "nesting" are actually really good and exciting, it was a HUGE blunder to call them "Nesting". Maybe "Ganging" or maybe a "Track Comp".

I think that they're going to take a pretty disastrous beating on this if they stick with calling it "Nesting".

On the Decklink front, I'm the only Vegas user in a M100 shop. The other 4 systems, 3 M100 and one 844, all use the same deck and capture over RS422 and SDI. It would be great if I could get attached to that same system. Then I could take my DSR11 home. (Funny thing. We shoot on DV25 but their DV deck only provides SDI output. Go figure. I actually get slightly better footage with the DSR11 and direct DV captures but getting onto the shop's SDI party for the $300.00 of a Deckink card would be a major coup. Oh and the DSR11 was $2k while the Decklink card needed would be $300.00)

I think you can import and edit MPEG-4 files at least since Vegas 4.

Yes. Absolutely. Nothing changed there.

You can import Mpeg-4 files that use MP3 like Divx, Xvid, etc... But the true Mpeg-4 specs deal with AAC audio for a totally compliant Mpeg-4 file.
