"not become a shear and utter whiny pantywaist" Bye chance, you're not stuck on a LA freeway are you? ]-) I have no idea how the "Abuse system" works and can only guess that audio sudden burst at the beginning caught the moderator(s) off guard if they listened to the video. Again, you'll actual posting was not an issue for me-------- but didn't last year a couple of posters got slammed pretty hard for posting links to religious videos without clearly stating the full nature of the video content? So I don't think the problem is because "anyone being conservative, religious, republican, etc," is the real issue here as perhaps the moderator(s) are trying to create a balance.

Again, Ray, I seriously doubt anyone has an issue with you in general, ;-)

Blink? you got an "abuse report"? ;-) Wow, I thought all that HD DVD "noise" ;-) would be worth 12-20 demerits! ;-) Of course, now that you have join the side of all good and blue ;-), ....................

I think the forum should add a "nuke" button and nuke counter on each posting, so, if someone doesn't like a posting, they can vote on it by the "nuke" button. Then we all can have fun counting our nukes without using the more serious "abuse report" button.

This is Sony's forum and they can run it any way they wish. I don't think it's unreasonable that they insist on maintaining a certain decorum befitting their corporate image. Complete freedom of speech just doesn't apply on the Vegas forum, nor should it.

That is the crux of the matter it is Sonys logo on the top of this page and on this site

That's the interesting part. The HD DVD debates certainly were lively and they sure raised quite a bit of heat, but instead I get labeled an "abuser" for doing something that has been done MANY times before by MANY other people..... talking about certain advantages in a competitor product.

Having said that, I don't think it's Sony's fault at all. A rule is a rule. I am beginning to think though that we need another button:

"REPORT ABUSE OF THE ABUSER BUTTON"

Is that why the movies and music that Sony puts out never has any profanity, sex, or violence?

Didn't your parents ever say to you "Do as I say and not as I do"?

Good valid points but I guess its like if you owned a bike. One day you drove in the street the next day you drove in the gutter its your bike I cant take your bike and drive it in the gutter, it doesn’t belong to me unless you give me the right to drive where I want to

We're talking about Sony here, right. A Japanese company!
Anyone watched any typical Japanese kids cartoons?

Bob..
Rory Cooper wrote on 6/6/2008, 5:04 AM
Weather they are Japanese or Hungarian is immaterial The fact is it belongs to them

Sony to my knowledge is controlled mostly by Americans in America and by Africans in Africa
What’s the difference?

Sony Vegas is a brilliant product and its got my backing whoever wherever

"Sony Vegas is a brilliant product and its got my backing whoever wherever" Vegas does has its moments. ;-) But I think the Nuke button could be an easy and entertaining means to protest a listing without having to push the "Abuse" panic button. Sony has been very open about most conversions, but I'm glad the focus is on more technical issues vs being a political blog for a few want-be's spin masters.

When someone says they are offended, its just another way of them saying they didn't like it. Ironically when we hear people make comments sucha as "I don't like it", our society easily brushes it of as no big deal, BUT when someone says "I'm offended" our society loves it, beause there is more energy about such comments. "Why are you offended? What about it offends you?" etc.

I'm offended, by all thos who get offended and don't want to take responsibility for their own actions. Individuals put themselves in positions, they choose to click on links, they can choose to stop watching something.

I'm offended by the censorship, which welcomes violence and shuns sex .There is no logical explanation for that... oh yes there is... our species gravitates towards violence.

I'm offended by the censorship the bleaps language and black boxes mouths. Do they really think we are not smart enough to know what words were still used in the sentence said. I'm mean really... what the "beep". Thank you for offending my intelligence.

Well.... enough said about that.

In the long run it would probably cause even MORE trouble. On the Avid forums (dare I even mention Avid now for fear of "offending" some gutless wonder out there??) you can rate a post from 1 to 5 stars. Very rarely does it every get used for anything more than snubbing someone (personally) with a one star rating..... which of course causes more in-house spatting.

It depends on where in the complex corporate structure which part of Sony you're talking about is. Many businesses with the Sony name may be nothing more than affiliates or they may report directly to HQ.

In the case of SCS it is a subsidiary of Sony Corporation of America.

On a completely different topic, while I was searching for some info on Sony's corporate structure I found an ad for this position.

Now that is interesting.

Ray,

If I had to single out the two or three people that do what you were accused of doing I can safely say that they have not posted in this thread as of yet. I think most of us know of whom I speak. They attack other posters and call them names using foul language. I can remember politely asking them to find other ways to express their disagreement to no avail. I find them truly offensive. In your case I am really puzzled that you got such a notice. Overall, the Sony forum moderators have been pretty liberal with what they allow us to discuss.

However, lately I have only seen one of the foul mouth flamers who still posts here regularly and he hasn't been engaging in that garbage recently.

Perhaps he and the other two got the same warning and didn't tell us about it. Perhaps he just "toned it down" which was the point to begin with.

I find it completely ironic that, buried here in the forums, you'll find that I've long defended the "religious" video's that have been posted here and how idiotic I found it that people got up in arms demanding a warning. We've gotten way to thin skinned and it seems everyone is offended by everything these days. Seeing a video with swearing, nudity, Jesus, or Buddha, should not be enough to "offend" anyone. Were not talking about "Two Girls One Cup" here and if you don't posses the mental faculties to view any number of harmless video's that may express a different opinion of yours without feeling violated, well, I feel sorry for you. I honestly wonder how you can even bring yourself to open up your internet browser or turn on the TV for that matter. You don't even have to be open minded to view something you disagree with, but especially here on these forums where our work can take us in so many different directions, it does seem reasonable that a modicum of temperance should be expected. How hard is it to just not like something without going to the extreme of crying that you've been offended? Seriously, whether the content is religious or "foul language", just get over it and move on. This is a forum for people who edit, if you judge the work on that level alone the content is by and large irrelevant.

As with other members - I am still trying to get to grips with the fact that I am constantly agreeing with Blink3times here, but...

ut try to tell them they're abusing company time and company machines

I am also stumped by this. The NSFW label before, after, in or during a video on YouTube is superflous. YouTube as such is NSFW. If you spend time during the work-day looking at YouTube videos and you are not using head phones, and then you complain if the video has "bad words in it" you are so mentally damaged that you really should be institutionalized for your own good and sterilized for the good of mankind.

Ah geez... tell me it ain't so... Apit AND you in the same thread even!? This is just downright creepy.

If you're watching YouTube videos on company time, then your goofing off and basically ripping off your employer. I'm self-employed and I know my boss gets tweaked when I spend too much time goofing off.

"This is just downright creepy." tell me about it!!!!! '-) I keep looking for that symbolic labelling on blink3times' name tag, but no tag of evil! '-) Something like ............

Posted by :"blink3times<--Abuser and Canadian!"

Plus a note column under user poster name for random generated comments scanned from the AVSFORUM of knowledge. ;-)

I was wondering what I had missed with the "Two Girls One Cup" video. Was it two girls drinking all the Communion wine, or what?

Then I looked it up, found out what it was, and realized there was an even deeper bottom to human [for once I'm at a loss for words] than I had previously known about.

On top of that I found that there are now oodles of videos showing people's reaction to seeing this.

Now, if I was to mention in this forum the family name of the surgeon carving me next week, I would be banned for life.

Poor doctor, I almost got a heart attack when I first heard his name on the phone.

Possibly Eastern European. Does anyone recognize the first name "Viliam"?

(Sounds like a form of William?)
