Sony Movie Studio Platinum 12: Error 2147163964

I have downloaded the trial version of SMS Platinum 12, but get the error code 2147163964 every time I try to install it. I have tried both 32 and 64 bit version but get the same error code with both. I have never installed either version of SMS12 on this PC before. Anyone know the fix for this? Any help appreciated!


Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit
3.1 AMD Quad Processor
4GB Memory
Graphics: NVIDIA GeForce 6150SE nForce 430

Thanks so much for your reply, but I 've already tried this, it didn't work. I've tried everything I could find on the web, and everything I can think of with no luck. I've also emailed sony support but they haven't answered yet!

They don't clean enough, but have you also tried a registry cleaner application like CCleaner from Piriform or similar after you have uninstalled the application or even to uninstall the application?

If 'yes' I might suggest some other folders to delete that might hold information blocking you.

If 'no', it's always good to have such an app on hand. Try one.

Yes...I have Easy Registry Cleaner, and I have ran it. I will also try CCleaner and see if it does the trick. Thank you so much for any help you might suggest. I appreciate it!

OK.. I downloaded CCleaner and ran it, but still get the same error. SMS12 is installing, but when I click on the desktop icon it ask for my registration number and does not give me a trial period.

I read somewhere that this error is because you have already had the trial version on your PC, but I have never had SMS12 on my PC!

I do intend to buy SMS12, but not until I'm sure it will run OK on my PC!
I currently have SVMS HD9 and DVDA 5.0 on this PC with no issues.

Also, I have the trial version of SVMS 11 running with no problems just to see if it would work! But, neither the 32 bit or 64 bit version of SMS12 will load the trial version!
