Sony Vegas Pro 13 uses only ~20% CPU and 1GB RAM.

Hey guys,

I've noticed lately that while rendering (1080p .mp4 output), SV (64 bit) uses only about 20% of CPU and 1GB RAM. I currently have laptop with 2 core i5 and 8GB of RAM, but I'm planning to do some upgrade soon to 8 cores / 16 threads CPU and 32GB of RAM desktop PC. I wonder if it's worth it, when Sony Vegas uses so little resources. Can it be tweaked somewhere to force higher usage? On the other hand, my Adobe After Effects uses almost every resource available...

I would appreciate some thoughts on this topic, I saw that I'm not alone with this problem on the Internet.

Thank you.

Best regards.

Vegas2Handbrake works the machine harder.

With a laptop, I would look at the Response Time measurement in WIndows Task Manager / Performance / Resource Monitor / Disk. Some laptops have one and only one disk and they are often slower units.

I was also going to mention that Vegas renders as fast as the slowest component, and more times then naught it's the drive throughput.
