Stupid Question About ACID?

ACID is always going to "map" the loop to the tempo. That is the point of ACID's loop handling. 4 bars at 120 will always play for the exact same duration regardless of the original length.

You need to tell ACID that the file is a one shot vs a loop. Then ACID will just treat it like a disk file and not attempt to control its duration.

I'm starting to understand Media Manager - I think - but need some "coaching" .. . I'll start a new thread!

Yes of course... the old one shot trick, that's what I ended up doing. worked like a charm. Never really did the bar thing.

ok jjkizak....i guess it IS very questinable/debatable....(re. melodic 80/90's)...but i would defend my position if compared to 05 thump thump thump variety...
I guess i'm just getting old....

Yes, you do have a point there. The latest stuff is all show, thump-thump, and no talent with a few exceptions like Eric Clapton, John Mayer,
John Fogarty, and I might have missed a few.

Hey! The 80s were very melodic. Asia, Phil Collins, YES, G n' R, Dire Straits, Foreigner, Whitesnake, Extreme, Pink Floyd, Styx....and the list goes on. It wasn't all the Erasure and similar stuff, or the post-disco "almost-disco."

ACID can be used for all genre's, which is the beauty of the app. It can go from David Was using ACID to score the Academy Awards to Ricky Martin making his "LaVida Loca" record, to pieces of "Tomb Raider II" in just a few clicks.
For those going to NAB, David WAS will be presenting on ACID at the post production conference, and is slated to appear at the Vegas Users Group event on the 19th of April.

Since we are asking stupid questions here is mine that has been buggin me for awhile...

If I want to record my own guitar playing and make an acidized loop out of it do I need to use Sound Forge or can I do this with just ACID (and Vegas).?

Thanks

All you need is ACID. Record your guitar part as a One-Shot, select open in Chopper, highlight the part you want to be a loop and select Chop To New. The new file will be an ACIDized loop.

Johnny,

Thanks much for the quick reply. Can't wait to try it out. Can't afford to buy a ton of loops at the moment so thought I could see what I could get away with. I don't think I even know any fuil songs on the guitar LOL --Maybe American Pie or something but I can manage little bits that sound like I know how to play. Then through the magic of ACID I can fill in with other stuff and create something hopefully musical enough to put into Vegas as background music.

Heck, to get started, there are THOUSANDS of free demo loops on the web. Just do a search for ACIDized loops. My fave 3rd party loops are from Hark Productions and Qup Arts.
