Not a tutorial but the base is very simple:

  • Place the timeline cursor, press "C".
  • Select an appropriate 608 closed caption format (I think in most cases CC1 should be fine).
  • Write the text into the "Comment" line.
  • Click "OK".

@Marco. Thanks. But I am already using these steps you mentioned & I used Vegas in a while to export videos with subtitles, but that is just a basic & simple stuff I know so far which is limited. So what I am asking here are the lil' more advanced stuff on subtitling in VP, it can be free or paid tutorial that you may know.

There isn't so much more. Closed captions properties actually are very limited. The list of properties:

  • pop-up text (standard)
  • roll-up text
  • paint-on text
  • flashing text
  • italic text
  • underlined text
  • text size (which is the character set size)
  • text color (white plus 6 colors)
  • background color (black/white plus 6 colors
  • background transparency (semi or full density)
  • tabs
  • rows

And the markup language of these 12 properties are to be found in the Vegas Pro help menu.

I work a lot with subtitles in Vegas and due to existing limitations I use Vegasaur which has a complete set of features for creating, importing and exporting subtitles.

You can also use the subtitle Edit which is free and which in my view is undoubtedly the best free subtitle editor there is.

Closed captions and subtitles are two different things. There is a lot more flexibility in subtitles. CC adhere to pretty strict standards. Which do you need to do?

Our client wants a 2 output 1.hardsubbed (for conventional tv viewing) & 2.video file with dual language cc (with .srt files for pc laptop viewing) So 1st one is easier for there is a script for that--region to subtitle but 2nd is a little bit tricky especially on the indenting/changing fonts/background color etc.. which on AdobePPro is on point its like editing a text & title only in Vegas.
