Templates removed from Project Properties in Vegas Pro 16

Former user wrote on 8/27/2018, 10:40 PM

I liked the changes in a general way. I just do not understand the reason to remove some presets from the project properties.

Pixel Aspect Ratio now only exists in 1,000 (Square) and 1,333 (HDV 1080) modes in both Project Properties and Media Properties.

@Former user - Do you have a question and what is it?

Former user wrote on 8/28/2018, 2:54 AM

Hi @Grazie

What part did you not understand? Sorry if it's complicated is that I use the google translator.

Since Vegas Pro 12 through 15 the Project properties had NTSC and PAL (Standard) presets and also the corresponding aspect Ratio.

In Vegas Pro 16 Magix has removed all NTSC and PAL presets and also the default Pixel Aspect Ratio settings for them.

This complicates the lives of those who still work with Standard models.

I for example still work with Bluray 1920x1080 and DVD 720x480 NTSC DV Widescreen Aspect Ratio 1.2121.

Yes, I read and understood what you wrote - now, what or do you have a question?

Former user wrote on 8/28/2018, 2:58 AM

How do I put these templates back in Vegas Pro 16?

Grazie wrote on 8/28/2018, 3:00 AM

Ah-hah! There we have it, an actual question. And now, to whom/who are you addressing that question? Forum members OR MAGIX?

Former user wrote on 8/28/2018, 3:04 AM

@Grazie

Before opening a complaint to MAGIX, I usually first look for a response in this forum. If I do not find the answer then I open a complaint directly to MAGIX.

If all problems were solved only directly with Magix then this forum would be unnecessary. I believe that this is the reason for this forum to exist.

Seems like a good strategy, especially as we now know you have a question. But, you didn't start off with that question.

I believe that this is the reason for this forum to exist.

Correct again. Not in dispute at all.

Change your Settings to what you wish/want and use the Icon to SAVE:

Now, maybe Marco or another DeepVeghead will show just where your/our OLDER settings are and that can be Copied and Pasted

The question was clear to me when reading Joelson-Forte's first post and this without adding  question mark . Grazie had a bad sleep ? Since Magix claims to follow this forum , both Magix and forum members might explain why presets are being removed .

I adjust the configuration of most of the parameters but the aspect parameter Rátio 1.2121 no longer exists. And it is used for DVD 720x480 NTSC DV Widescreen.

The NTSC and PAL aspect ratio parameter no longer exists in the Project Properties or Media Properties.

Marco. wrote on 8/28/2018, 3:30 AM

I can only guess. Only the old SD based PAL and NTSC presets were removed. Maybe because them are rarely used these days. Actually I don't miss them,.

A way to recall is to use that "adopt to media" button at the upper right corner of the Project Properties window to let the Project Properties automatically adopt to the media property of a selected media clip. Then save that new preset. So you are back to a certain preset in a fraction of a minute.

@wilvan oooh you’re such a Card! 🙃 And you too haven’t asked a question, except the only question was at showing concern about my sleeping patterns. Now, @wilvan convert your last very clear statement to a question.

Thanks @Marco.

Is there a folder or file where these presets are saved?
I know where the render templates are saved. But the Project Presets have never figured out where they stand.

Grazie wrote on 8/28/2018, 3:38 AM

Hey, MAGIX, why have you culled the Settings Presets? And no Forum member will be able to answer that in any authoritative way. None.

"Is there a folder or file where these presets are saved?"

I don't know. Maybe rebuildung the certain ones needed would be even faster.

@Marco.

His tip was the first thing I thought to do when I realized that change. But I had to rule out the possibility that it might be a timely problem here on my machine. Now that I know it was a planned change I'm going to have to adapt to it. Thanks!

I don't know about Vegas Pro but VMS are here:

Thanks @EricLNZ

I searched here but did not find it. Vegas Pro should have a different system. Thank you!

I guess the standard templates are hard-coded into the program and not available to copy from one version of Vegas to another.

Custom project properties templates are in the registry at HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Sony Creative Software\Vegas Pro\10.0\Metrics\VideoProProfiles but unfortunately old custom templates cannot be migrated to VP16 by a registry import/export operation.

I will also miss the standard definition PAL and NTSC templates, as I also still use these formats. I also think by now that these templates should come as standard, as they are such common formats:

  • 1920x1080-50p
  • 1920x1080-59.94p
  • 3840x2160-29.97p

I use them every week! Standard DV-AVI still going strong.

@Marco. @jetdv  @Nick Hope

After much work I was able to recover the Project settings of previous versions of Vegas that are missing in version 16.

At least here on my machine everything worked out. I tested only on Windows 7 64bit, however, I believe it works on windows 10.

If anyone is interested I can send the file ".reg"

NickHope wrote on 9/7/2018, 1:56 AM

Nice work Joelson! I would be interested to get this, preferably as a .reg file rather than a .dll. Personally I would only add the few missing templates that I am likely to use, but your file would give me a head-start. It could also be added as an FAQ post, as I expect this subject will arise frequently.

Former user wrote on 9/7/2018, 2:23 AM

Hi Nick,

Actually it's a ".reg file". I wrote wrong for lack of attention.
It has been corrected.
Thank you!

NickHope wrote on 9/7/2018, 2:25 AM

OK. The best way to share would probably be to paste here in a < > code block so we can save it ourselves as a .reg, and edit it to remove some templates if desired.

Heres the link. After downloading, make the desired changes.
