Text does not render

@Santiago-Tejedor You can have both VP 22 and VP23 installed on the same PC. Does the "Medio sin conexión" message appears often while you are editing, or just when you take the screenshot? It shows in some of your screenshots and not others.

It goes on and off randomly.

There is text opacity mentioned above by @MikeS and you can also adjust it from 100 down to zero within the text event. If it is all the way at the bottom, it is hard to see it.

Also, what about the Compositing Mode on that track?

No, the opacity is all right. The problem shows the moment I insert the text, without even touching it.

To be honest I don't know where that picture you posted comes from.

Also I don't think there would be a problem if I used Title & Text, but that does not recognize different font (I still can't understand why).

The screenshot is of Titles and Text on the timeline. Your original issue was that text wasn't appearing over the video. Hence all the posting about opacity, including my screenshot of a Titles & Text event on the timeline where you can adjust the opacity of it for that event.

When you mention "The problem shows the moment I insert the text" I don't understand what you are referring to. Where are you inserting the text?

As I stated yesterday, If you upload the VEG file somewhere we can download it, we can test with your exact project (media is not needed)

I meant to say that is not a problem of opacity, which is always 100%

"The problem shows the moment I insert the text" means that as soon as I create the text the problems appears. I do not make any adjustment to the text (be it opacity or any other parameter.

I'm sorry, I missed your post. Do you mean I upload a completely empty file?

Yes, upload just the project file (a .veg) with a project that has a text event you are having trouble with.

This is what I see when I opened that project (I added a solid color below the title to show the background was properly transparent.)

john_dennis wrote on 12/2/2025, 4:34 PM

@Santiago-Tejedor It worked in Vegas 23-302 on the machine from my signature.

Have you been successful using .avif files before in Vegas?

That was lucky. Thank you for trying.

I wish I knew why it worked for you!

I think Vegas lets you use .avif files, but I also think they don't render well, they cause glitches if you transform them somehow (I mean animate them or whatever). I haven't fully checked that though, so I cannot confirm.

Let me ask you in return? Is there a way for Titles and Text to recognize fonts?

john_dennis wrote on 12/3/2025, 12:01 AM

"Is there a way for Titles and Text to recognize fonts?"

Yes. There is a drop-down box that allows you to select from many fonts.

But that are not all the fonts that are installed on your system, to recognize and to use all installed fonts @Santiago-Tejedor uses the default Titler.

Yes, it lets me choose from all the fonts I have installed in my computer and you see them in the preview window, but they do not make it into the actual footage.

For example:

And this has been going on for years on end!

Exactly. And if I use Legacy text I have the problem that originated this thread 😕

I have to admit that I am confused. In your original post you said:

I have a problem with the new Vegas Pro 23: I insert text in my video and if I save and close the project, when I reopen they don't show on the preview screen and they certainly do not render.

In a later comment you wrote:

Never had this problem on this computer with Vegas Pro 22 though.

Vegas Pro 23 was released just under 3 months ago, so if the problem has existed for years on end, it must have affected Vegas Pro 22 and earlier - in that case it can't be a problem unique to Vegas Pro 23.

Sorry for not expressing myself properly. It is two different things because I was answering to different posts:

1- Titles and Text has never (as far as it has existed) reconized the vast majority of fonts I have in my computer. That's why I have always used Legacy Text, which always worked fine in that respect.

2- Since I upgraded to Vegas Pro 23, Legacy Text has not worked as it did with prior versions -reason why I started this thread. And of course Titles & Text is still useless when it comes to fonts.

I hope this clarifies my point.

Dexcon wrote on 12/3/2025, 5:45 AM

Thank you for the clarification.

I also have an RTX 2080 Super GPU (in my 5 years old Alienware desktop) but have never experienced the issue that you have reported with Titles & Text using default Windows installed fonts (which I think are .OTF fonts). The only font issue that I can recall experiencing was with .TTF fonts which didn't (years ago) work with BorisFX's Title Studio.

Thanks for clarifying the issue. Titles and Text's shortcomings with certain types of fonts are well known and sadly unchanged. I look forward to it being replaced with a more capable titler.

What I'm surprised by is that there is a change with legacy text.
