text effect - how to apply effect only on text an not a whole frame

Hello,

I have some text and I have also a mp4 file with the transition effect similiar to the transition effect from below video:

Jump to 0:17 (min:sek): - 0:19 (min:sek)

Take a look at RIOT text and transition on it.

How can I apply this mp4 file transition effect only on this text in Vegas.
I was able to apply this effect but only on whole frame, but it doesn't satisfy me.

My mp4 transition file contains only black and white colors so I can apply a mask on it.

Have you tried dragging and dropping the Gradient Wipe Transition filter unto the edge of your text?

@Steve_Rhoden Are you sure I can achieve what I would like to achieve by Gradient Wipe transition filter ? The main problem is not to apply the effect on the whole frame, but only for text.

You need to set the text track as a Child-track of MP4 track, and set the composite mode of the MP4 track to Multiply (Mask).

I got it!! :) Thank you @lan-mLMC

I put mp4 video on upper video track. Then I added Invert and also Chroma Key (Color: black), Low treshold: 0.278 and set Multiply mask on this video track.

On the lower track I added text and set "Make composition child".
