This happens to "(Legacy) Text" and "Credit Roll" as well. In my opinion Vegas Pro would very benefit from designing one new title tool replacing all of the old ones (though I really like ProType Titler).

Will it happen? Unlikely, with the text plugin available from the 3rd Party Partner NewBlue. ProType Titler has just been left to wither and die. A great GUI, hobbled with cul-de-sac controls. Pity.....

Whatever happens, lets retain Legacy Text. It's down and dirty, works every time and with the exception of credit rolls serves most commercial video needs that I encounter.

It appears that the more bells and whistles available in titling utilities the more prone the title utility becomes to bugs and crashes.

I have been waiting for years for the Legacy credit roll to be fixed. I don't have many left.

I like the current text tools. What I can't do in those I use gimp/blender for.

However, they should never be released. Would break all my old projects. :p

For what happens when you select the font size & it changes that vs the text box, MS Office/OpenOffice do the same thing. Protype same thing. I'd say it has to do with the OS UI vs specific programs. Makes sense if you select something it assumes you want to type in that vs assuming you don't. Imagine the frustration of trying to type custom font sizes! :)

"MS Office/OpenOffice do the same thing. Protype same thing."

I was about to write same thing. But it is different in OpenOffice. Having changed the text size via the dropdown menu you can go on writing immediately what you can't do with Vegas text tools (not to be mixed with typing a font size value).
And using ProType Titler font size adjustment works differently as there is no font size selection (only the scale slider).

Yep, OpenOffice deselects the font size after you choose a size, leaving the text selected. This is how the Vegas Titles & Text and (Legacy) Text should work IMO. However I've personally never found the current behaviour to be an annoyance.

I see what he's saying now. I normally click IN the box & manually type my sizes in Vegas, don't normally use the drop down. If I had I must of done that before I typed & then clicked in the text window. I don't seem to remember typing words in the font size selection but I must of at one point. :)

If I click IN the text box on OpenOffice then it keeps the courser in there, just like Vegas.

ProType gives you lots of options: you can change the font size while typing (slider or type directly in), you can have the text group selected & change the scale, you can have the line selected & change the scale, you can have the letter selected & change the scale. All separate from each other. :)
