Hey SONY CREATIVE SOFTWARE. You guys are great. You make a great product in Vegas. Naturally, I think it could and WILL be even better in the future....but I'm just taking a moment of this very valuable forum space to officially thank you and all the people who are working so hard to make VEGAS the very best. I particularly want to thank you for this forum. It is by far the very best of its type on the internet. In fact, I can't think of anything near it. Most of us who use it regularly have learned a great deal here. Some of us, like me, would NEVER have acquired this knowledge on our own. It has really added great value to my purchase and upgrades of Vegas over the years. I'm sure you realize that you have a tremendously generous group of users here who make a real contribution to each other and the products development -- but this is the moment that I want to acknowledge our HOSTS! ..

THANKS for keeping this forum up and running! ..

ditto - iif it wasn't for this forum, I probably would likely have chosen another NLE - it's been very helpful - lots of assistance comes from the forum. I believe it's sold more than just me on purchasing Vegas Pro.

Now..... how about that CUDA acceleration? :)

Could not agree more.
This place might cost a bit to run and the justification of the expense hard to find especially in these difficult times but it is there. Yeah it's tough love at times but as the old saying goes, the time to really worry is when the shouting stops.

I'd love hardware acceleration too, for instance the new Matrox CompressHD card sounds like a nice idea, sadly it is only supported by Adobe Media Encoder. Toshiba's Sours Engine (half)Cell HD encoder on a PCIe card seems to have to have been a no-show.

Fixstars announced their h.264 encoder for the PS3 at NAB, which sounds quite interesting. They also have a PC solution with a CELL CPU on a PCIe card, though that will set you back some $6100 per card.
There are no price for the PS3 Software encoder yet.

Sadly none of these may be useful for the Vegas users, when even Sony's $40,000 Blu-Code package is software only, I find it unlikely they will give the prosumer/consumer market access to Hardware assisted encoding :(

(I hope Sony decides to prove me wrong though)

It was one of the key reasons I switched from Ulead MSP to Vegas - the support of the forums. Nothing more frustrating than isolating a problem down to a root cause and then not being able to get ANYBODY to give you a clue what the problem is. Or how to do some handy little trick.

Thanks people and thanks Sony !

Oh? I thought that this Forum was an extension to Vegas?? - Seriously . . ? SCS should be commended in having this Forum. I have learnt 90% of my stuff from here - and often it has taken me beyond what I thought was initially possible with Vegas, and onto/into areas of editing that others do that I would never ever think of doing.

SONY - keep it up! - And yes, it must also be good for you. Least of which is getting ideas for future releases.

Best regards

Hi Sony,

I recommend Sony Vegas, and - not the least - Sony Sound Forge to everyone I talk to who is interested in multimedia. The reason is the software itself, of course, but even more the invaluable asset it comes bundled with - this forum!

It is a library of tons of professional knowledge, the sum of years and years of experience, in almost any field related to combining video and sound into what we call multimedia.

In this forum I get help with my Vegas questions almost every day. I even got help choosing the right semi pro camcorder for me, invaluable help when I needed it most!

The ONLY problem with this company forum compared to others is that people have to purchase a Sony product before they can even ask one question.

Yes, but it keep the riff-raff out.

"90% of my stuff from here " I must have miss the session on motorcycling and pubbing.... ;-)

This a great forum and SCS is without a doubt cool and very open minded.

Nope. What you mention I was born with. It's part of the DNA.

"Nope. What you mention I was born with" ;-) That must have been some delivery, baby Grazie with a mug in one hand and driving a "bike" with the other................. must have scared the old doc seeing the old headlight speeding at him! ;-)

I like a closed forum. It let's us understand that we're all on the same page... that and the fact that we're 'special'..... we own the product.

This forum and it's wonderful members has always been the best part of owning and using Vegas. The willingness of members to help one another here is second to none as is the open mindedness of the forum moderators.

And thanks again to Sony for fixing the problems with the Search engine last year. It's a goldmine of information that we cherish.

It is the great mind-meld that makes Vegas that much more valuable as the premier editing tool.

I have to chime in and give the Sony people, including the members, props for the advice, help and insight Vegas and the other products. It is a classy forum all around.

The stuff I've learned here, from the experts that congregate here, is worth gold!

Thank you Vegas users and experts, without you people I would be pulling hairs at times.
busterkeaton wrote on 5/21/2009, 7:27 AM
I would say without a doubt, that more new users decide to buy Vegas after seeing the enthusiasm and the knowledge here, that any other marketing tool SCS has come up with.

Knowing you can get help right away, makes it a lot easier to jump into unknown NLE waters.

Right.

Always looking forward to the first pause in the work in the morning which I use to look through the new posts since yesterday - and nearly every day there is a new angle on something that helps making the next video better or faster or....

My warmest thanks to all the regulars for all your time and advice - Without you ...

To all the newer users: do not hesitate to give your advice or ideas also - whenever you are among the first to see a question.
