The fact that Sony has chosen to host the Catalyst forum elsewhere isn't reassuring. One has to wonder what their long term strategy is. My guess is they really don't know. Sony will run these (Vegas, SF, et al.) forums as long as it makes economic sense for them. How long did the Cinescore forum hang around? My guess is death will be sudden if/when it comes. They won't do it for goodwill.

Vidmus,

You have a good point.

But most probably the registration is done via another server and that would be kept alive longer than this forum (hopefully), the forum is separate from that.

Or somehow the one who has the rights to the software might still be able to grant you permission. You paid for that. It's a different story for this forum.

And yet this forum could last for a long time no one knows.

So noting the serial is a good thing to do :-).

As others have stated, most of Sony Pro department have no idea what Vegas Pro is.
I have witnessed this first hand while walking around IBC and asking the Sony Pro company division about SCS and Vegas pro.

So one wonders how hard it would be for them to pull the plug.

well if there is ever a problem i'll simply download a crack somewhere. as much as i disapprove of doing such things if there's no alternative...

Indeed ushere,

You have officially bought the lock, it's yours, if the manufacturer doesent supply you the key anymore then you have to get another key to use it.

I don't think that is breaking the law.

15 minutes ago I visited this forum and it was gone VERY SCARY .
This is what I saw:

I thought it was the end still shaking and heart is pounding :-D.
Just when I thought of contacting support, it came online.

I guess they were offline for some maintenance?

Well, unless there is an Intelligent Robo, this would kinda reveal that somebody overnight (UK here!) was and is employed (paid!) to oversee the maintenance or server swapping, pointing towards Staff billing somewhere at Madison or wherever on the Planet.

And again, the silence from SCS concerning our beloved VP is deafening.

Good point Grazie, and no sticky about maintenance this time.

At this moment I am happy if they just keep this forum alive even if another VP never comes.

Some of those Drone topics should have been marked OT: I guess that gesture has been dropped in the future internet. ;)

As long as Vegas Pro 13 ---42722 has the pink out of sync sound tracks and the blue markers I will be happy.

So anyone got any recommendations for methods of downloading the whole forum for offline use, with search functionality?
Grazie wrote on 4/27/2016, 12:26 AM
Nick, you may find that SONY owns it.

About time we heard what the plans are for our beloved VegasPro. Anything else is a diversion.
